But, this one just wasn't as exciting to me. I don't know if all the other books were just so intense and full of action that this one was more back story? I'm not sure, but it was a struggle to get through. I think my biggest problem is that the first book, and all three books in the sister series built layers onto each story while also adding characters and details on top of each other, that this one just felt flat. One dimensional if you will. Yes, there were fights and struggles, moments of intensity, moments of happiness, but it just wasn't the same story telling I have become quickly accustomed to. I felt like I didn't get ANY of the answers I was hoping to learn after the first book ended. Maybe he was adding a bit of drama and suspense to the mix, but at least give me more than the one sentence from Tristan that he didn't even voice to keep me compelled! Seriously, what was the deal with the pain??? I still continue to like the strong women characters in these books. It's rare to find young women written who are full characters, able to me strong and determined, but not fall apart when a boy shows up. It's refreshing! But, in all, three stars. I am in this for the entire series, so on I read to the next book! I expect that my questions get some serious answers in book 3, as I'm pretty sure both series combine in book 4, so in all I'm excited to keep reading. This book is fast paced. We get alternate view points, which I personally love, because it means I get to see what's going on with Adele and her mom, but also what's going on with Tristan and Adele's dad. As you go through this book you will suspect something is not right with several people. In the end, the ones you shouldn't have trusted are the ones you never suspected at all! You also get very shocking news about an old evil deed of Tristan's father. Warning, there is loss in this book. You will probably cry. I just love that this dystopian world is so much different from what I've read before. I mean, there are still the class divisions that you see in some of the genre, as well as the obvious totalitarian government. But the world itself is unique and interesting and even though this was book 2, we still learned more about it and how it began. I'm very anxious to begin book 3. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
