Ellen is 30 years old and is desperately looking for love. On her mothers advice she joined an online dating serving and has now narrowed her choices down to 2 men with whom she was planning to set up in-person dates.

To be honest at the end of chapter one I thought that the main character, Ellen, would be a ditsy dumb blonde who couldn't do anything right. Afterall, she had almost killed her best friends dog.

Instead she met the man of her dreams at the vets where she took the dog after it was choking on a hairball.

This is a novella, but even in 7 chapters Ellen learns how to take a chance on love and to stop following other peoples rules or preconceived ideas.

I was more than satisfied with the ending of this book.

I may be part of a minority but, I just could not get into this book. I mean it was okay but, it was not great or anything that I would want to continue in the series. I will read Book 2 because I have it on my Kindle but this one just did not draw me in. I am not sure that this review is based on the author because I think she is really good at telling a story yet I did not like the story. I think that I just did not fall in love with Ellen I thought she was unreal and just plain annoying as hell. This is just my opinion and in no way shape or form should make you not want to read the book many others liked it I just did not! ( )

This was the cutest little story. Its one of those things that could totally be a movie and I would watch it over and over again. Ellen has the right idea about compatibility but she forgets chemistry and she finds out what you get with out chemistry. (hint: 86%, lol) Henry is very sweet and I think they will have a long HEA. 4 Stars ( )

This was quick cute story that I was pulled into easily. Online dating or meeting someone by chance…You have both aspects as this story plays out. I had some laugh out loud moments with her online dates. I don’t know if that is how it works with online dating. I did find myself laughing when she scored 86% and then proceeded to argue with her date. It a fun, quick, romantic story that not everything can be planned to the way you want it. It might look good on paper but when you bring it to life you’re not very happy with it. I liked it a lot and have bought 2nd book in the series.

This was yet another great story from Susan Hatler. Like her short story My Last Blind Date, I enjoyed every bit of this novella.

Hatler doesn't do anything extraordinary with her characters or their stories, but what she does do is create believable, real life characters. You won't get an over the top romance in Love at First Date. This novella can easily be about a relationship that happened to a friend. While the love that formulated took a fast track in certain parts, I still stand by my statement of it being believable.

What I especially enjoyed about this one is that we get a glimpse into the pros and cons of various dating methods. Online dating is a keep subject for this novella, but so is meeting people the old-fashioned way by randomly finding a person of interest. I think they were both equally represented and without spoiling too much, I think that there is great dating advice given throughout.

It was also a great pleasure to once again read about the character Rachel. She's Ellen's best friend and the main character in My Last Blind Date. There two stories are companions and I'd enjoy reading more related work from Hatler in the future. I hope there'll be more of Rachel and Ellen. I'd also like to see the dogs, Chester and Kinsey, more. I'm a sucker for dogs in stories. ( )
