Steele e Maren sono due personaggi che ho amato molto già nei libri precedenti ma la loro storia, anche se in sostanza mi è piaciuta, l’ho trovata comunque un po’ sottotono rispetto a quelle dei primi libri.
Peccato perché mi aspettavo qualcosa di più dati i personaggi e quanto letto in passato, ma sembra quasi che la Banks stia perdendo quello smalto strepitoso che le aveva fatto scrivere i primi libri di questa serie.
Quattro stelle un po’ stiracchiate, sperando in una ripresa.

In the vein of Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series. I didn't know Maya Banks had a series like this - romantic suspense. I'll definitely be reading some more in this series.

I've just discovered that I've already read When Day Breaks, Book 9, last year. I have zero memory of it so I'll listen to the start to bring it back. This is my eighth Maya Banks novel and each series is different enough it doesn't seem like the same novelist.

Forged in Steele is the story of Maren Scofield, a doctor who patches up the KGI guys after a mission. Steele is the team leader. His frankness when he finally tells Maren he needs to get her out from under his skin is delightful. They are both gratifying characters.

I like the narration by Adam Paul - especially his gravelly voice for Steele.

Like Brockmann's books, this novel is long at 10 hr 51 min, though Brockmann's Troubleshooters are usually marathons - over 15 hours. ( )

This was the first Maya Banks book I've ever read, but it won't be the last. Now I see why so many readers love her stuff. It's a little gritty and the heroes are alpha, but delightfully human. In fact, the heroine seems to bring out this hero's human side. It was wonderful to see. If you like romantic suspense with a covert ops twist, then you'll love this book. ( )

Terrible. The characters have no chemistry. The story makes no sense. The author literally forgot midway through the book the most basic fact of the book that she should have remembered. Utterly and completely predictable to the point of pain.

This was just awful and I can't deal with it anymore, even if it nebulously has what I was looking for. ( )

Hot sexy military types, smart, straight talking doc makes for spicy reading. Just when you think the story ends there's more. Steele has a huge personality change with Maren, it's a little odd if you followed the series closely.
