Four of Aesop's Fables starring the lion, the mouse, the ox(en), the ant, the grasshopper, and the frog. I liked that the story is first followed by the adage it illustrates. These are good stories and lessons to learn. Your toddlers will enjoy them as well as your early readers. ( ) Lessons from the Lion, the Ox and their little friends Four fables from Aesop by Ripple Digital Publishing Illustrated very colorful children's book with not only a story but a life lesson. First one: the lion and the mouse. We see the lion asleep and the mouse is running up and down his body. The lion wakes up and grabs him and the mouse pleads to let him go that maybe he can help him one day. The lion is caught the next day and tied to a tree when the little mouse finds him and is able to help. Morale: Little friends may prove great friends. . The Four Oxen and the Lion When the four oxen were together the lion had to stay away because at least one of them had horns directed at him. One day the oxen had a fight and each went to a separate corner of the field... Morale: United we stand, divided we fall. . The Ant and the Grasshopper The ants gathers corn for the winter but the grasshopper wanted to play then and not worry about the winter months. Morale: It is best to prepare for the days of necessity. . The Frog and the Ox One summer day a frog was telling his father about the ox and just how big he was. His father took in a breath and expanded his body and asked-as big as this? Morale: self-conceit may lead to self-destruction. Cute short stories.
