Better than Hunters of Earth, and Fraser Hines does a lovely job of narrating this story. ( ) The TARDIS materializes on a distant planet. Jamie, Zoe, and the Doctor think it’s unoccupied, until the click of a gun tells them otherwise. Sophie and her crew of scientists are on this planet to study a lost civilization and are suspicious of the TARDIS team’s sudden appearance. They have enough to worry about, what with the fact that time moves differently on this planet, and there are creatures that seem to be killing the crew off one by one… This is rather a light story, although I did like the timey-wimey and the use of the Second Doctor theme. This is one of 11 interconnected stories produced for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, so it may make more sense knowing that it’s been written in that context. Frazer Hines (aka Jamie MacCrimmon) handles the main narrator duties, and Evie Dawnay is Sophie (who is vaguely Russian?). Hines does a pretty good job of imitating Patrick Troughton—there were some lines where he totally nailed it, but other lines felt a bit too stuttery and blended too much with his own narration voice. But perhaps my own memories of the Second Doctor are inaccurate. I’d certainly listen to him in a full-cast audio drama. I’d recommend listening to this in conjunction with the other stories in the Destiny of the Doctor cycle; as a stand-alone, it would be rather slight. The second Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe find themselves in mortal danger after something knocks the TARDIS twice and it lands on a strange planet. There's the usual misunderstanding when the leader of the humans studying the planet assumes that the Doctor and his companions are responsible for a murder or two. Jamie's assumption about the mysterious shadow from the title turns out to be correct. It's not a nice way to die. The eleventh Doctor makes a guest appearance. Got some chuckles out of the second Doctor's reactions. Soon the mystery is solved and the day is saved. It's a short adventure, but rather fun. I liked the fact that the actor who portrayed Jamie was one of the performers. Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
