They thought they had escaped. They were wrong. After fleeing the Branch with Sam, Cas, and Nick, Anna is learning how to survive in hiding, following Sam's rules: Don't draw attention to yourself. Always carry a weapon. Know your surroundings. Watch your back. When memories from Anna's old life begin to resurface--and a figure from her childhood reappears--Anna's loyalties are tested. Is it a Branch set-up, or could it be the reunion Anna has hoped for? Ultimately, the answers hinge on one question: What was the real reason her memories were erased in the first place? Jennifer Rush delivers a thrilling sequel to Altered in a novel packed with mysteries, lies, and surprises that are sure to keep readers guessing until the last page is turned.… (mehr)

More of the same as in [Altered]. Nauseously light weight for all the betrayals, kin murder, violence and body count. The over use of the the word Agent to objectify bad guys with Stormtrooper ineffectiveness. Don’t waist more time on this series if there is anything else to (re)read. ( )

I will say I liked this book a lot more than the first. Altered was good, but it wasn't my favorite. Erased is much better as far as pace, character development, ending, and just overall likability. I think this series is super underrated series, so I think if you are a fan of The Bourne Identity series, The Raven Boys series, and even Shatter Me then you will like the Altered series.

WOW! Instant action right out of the gate. Really loving this series and it's characters. Even more surprises and revelations. Great character development and world building. With how things ended I'm curious to see where else this series will go since things were pretty much wrapped up. Can't wait for the next book. ( )

I was really looking forward to reading this sequel, but it just didn't live up to Altered. The beginning was incredibly slow, and it didn't pick up until about halfway through. In the end it was decent, but it didn't wow me.

And the rest will be spoilers.

Anna was seriously pissing me off for most of this book. She spent more time worrying if Sam would go back to Dani, her sister who everyone thought was dead but is now surprise alive, than the trained killers who are after them. Priorities.

No one really seemed to question Dani's presence until it was much too late, except for Nick a little, even after she said something weird that turned other people into killing machines.

And I am having a hard time believing Anna, who does have some martial arts training but is still a seventeen (I think) year old girl, manages to beat the shit out of all of the trained killers who come after her. Why doesn't she lose just once? Seriously.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales (http://darkfaerietales.com/)

Quick & Dirty: Four boys, one girl, missing memories. Will the search for answers turn every thing upside down.

Opening Sentence: Like Clockwork, I woke after mid-night and immediately had the urge to see Sam.

The Review:

Anna and the boys are back in book 2. Since I found some issues with the last couple of series that I hadn’t read the previous books, I got a hold of Altered and read it right before Erased. So disclaimer aside Anna, Nick, Cas and Sam are back with some minor appearances by Trev. They are in hiding still and constantly moving their locations despite the ending to Altered, they clearly don’t trust the Branch. When Dani (the supposedly dead sister) pops back up the rush to find answers is on.

The gang with the help of Trev locates Dani and move in to rescue her, they also end up rescuing three other guys. When a code word sets the three new guys off, Sam decides to break the group in two leaving Nick and Anna on their own. Anna drags Nick to meet her uncle whom she has just found out is alive and to get more answers. Or is it just more lies?

In a final showdown will the truth come out? Whew this book was action packed and I must say that despite liking Sam and Anna in Altered I was more than happy to jump ship to Nick and Anna. Not going to say if I ended up disappointed or not…okay, maybe I will. Yes, sigh — I was despite the fact that I really feel like the author put a lot of work into some kind of triangle and then just abandoned it. I mean abandoned it, there was a lot of buildup and no real resolution or dealing with the buildup. Everyone just kind of acted like nothing happened. Seriously, for a fickle shipper like me I was heartbroken…

That being said, I was so glad to see there was a book 3, and I am dying to find out what happens. All though I really thought with the way Erased ended that it was the last book and was working on being bitterly disappointed. So yes, I was invested despite shipping all the wrong couples’. I flew through this book, just had to know what was going to happen and how it was going to end. Now I am off to find book 3 and see how the trilogy ends. Enjoy it, I know I did!

Notable Scenes:

“This could be another trap.”

“Sam immediately flicked his attention to me, checking my reaction.”

“A kiss that felt like goodbye.”

“I pressed the button.”

FTC Advisory: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers/Hachette Book Group provided me with a copy of Erased. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review. ( )
