Mostly because after reading the 1st book I was excited to continue a solid creepy story and get some answers. There were some decent scenes, normal asylum stuff with padded rooms, long corridors with flickering lights, etc. A scary ghost kid is always appreciated so thumbs up for that. But it felt like Matt Shaw got to the end and was like "Fuck it, I don't know." And I was left feeling like I wasted my time. It's OK though, I'm not breaking up with Matt Shaw books and I'm sure the next one will be great. We start this story right where we left off in part one, in the cabin with Craig. It’s morning. He’s hoping it’s over. Praying it’s over. Ghosts only show up at night, right? He hears the footsteps on the front porch again – coming right for the front door! Not again. He won’t be tormented like this! No more! He raises the gun… While being evaluated for his competency hearing, we’re with Craig as he is trying to put the pieces together for himself, in the very asylum that led to his decent into madness. Leaving his padded cell only to endure the torments & questionable treatments from the staff, Craig isn’t sure if he is getting better or losing his mind all together. As he searches for answers, will he discover the key to his freedom or the one that will lock him in forever? Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

I am not going to do a backstory so just giving out thoughts as this book literally took off into the twilight zone and I was not happy with this sequel to the first book.
The character, Craig is living in a dream state through the whole second book, but I didn't learn that he was dreaming till I got to the end, but to top it off it is possible that some of the first book is a dream as well. So I was left with more questions than answers in this story and most of the story is a state of confusion. This book could have tied up a lot of loose ends from book one but if anything there were 10x more loose ends in book two that made it feel the book was a waste of time. Thankfully the book was only around 100 pages and it only took about an hour and a half to read. If it had dragged on for near 250 pages this book would have probably been a dnf as I don't think I would have been able to stand it too much longer with the crazy story this turned out to be.
Normally books by Shaw are great and it is rare to have anything by him that is strange, but this book just did not do anything for me at all except maybe wish I had a padded room somewhere with a nice soft bed. :) Giving this book one Twilight Zone Crazy star!
