Not only packed with lots of good tips for surviving and thriving in any party environment, but also just an entertaining read. ( )

Better title would be "The art of lying". The author suggests lying and employing a range of dishonest schemes in order to accomplish some self-serving goals. There is no lesson to be learned from this book. Waste of time. Would give negative rating if that would be an option. ( )

A pretty good book for folks that have no idea how to mingle intentionally, like myself. Marinet gives a number of different techniques that you can take or leave. Use what seems to work for you. I didn't care much for when she started talking about the "Tao of Mingling". I had a worldview clash there.

Still a helpful read to at least give you some language. ( )

I picked this book up at a used book sale and, frankly, if I had paid more than a dollar for it, it would have been too much. The attempts at humor are labored and cliche-ridden, nor is the book useful in any genuine sense. I've met people who attempt to use highly artifical ploys such as those outlined here and, except in the case of the most obnoxious, have ached for the lack of social skills they showed. ( )

A confession: I was prepared to attempt a humorously catty review of the audio version of this book until reading responses from readers who found its advice helpful. On reflection, her advice has its value -- much of it will be appropriate only to some social situations and some people. However, many of her ideas aren't too bad, making me wish I'd had her book years ago, when I found social situations much more difficult. ( )
