I'm embarrassed to say that I totally missed the King in love with 'Genevieve' who is in love with his best friend and best soldier. Goodness how'd I miss that in the first book? I am glad I waited to read the second book until the third came out as this book also ends on a bit of a cliff hanger. Starting book 3 now I liked this even though it's alternative history. The part that annoyed me was where Minuette was jealous of Dominic when she thought he'd spent time with the lady-in-waiting of King Henri's mistress. Of course, Minuette should have informed William back in The Boleyn King that she wasn't interested in being his queen or mistress. Telling a Tudor "No" can in itself be hazardous to one's health. There are factual events throughout the book, Guilford Dudley's beheading though in real history for marrying Lady Jane Grey, Northumberland's attainting, and Robert Dudley was a resident in The Tower. In real life it was Amy Dudley who died at the foot of the stairs which put Robert beyond the pale as far as Elizabeth was concerned. He would marry Letticia Knollys, Elizabeth's cousin, without the Queen's permission I have the same issue with this book as I did with the first book in the series...Minuette is STILL annoying me. I don't know what it is about her character, but I just can't seem to like her. Part of it is the way she plays both Dominic and William, whether intentionally or not. She says she loves Dominic, but yet she continues to let William believe she loves him and wants to marry him. Hopefully that will come to an end early in the next book, which I plan to start later today. I do love the way Elizabeth is written, as it seems very true to everything I've read in the past about her strong will and strong opinions keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
