Her name is Tate. He doesn't call her that, though. He barely refers to her at all, and he hardly ever speaks to her. But he won't leave her alone. They were best friends once. Then he turned on her and made it his goal to ruin her life. She's been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through school and his pranks and rumors just got worse. But she's done hiding from him, and there's no way she'll allow him to ruin another year. He has not changed, but she has. It's time to fight back.… (mehr)

I loved this book. The angst and drama was amazing and had me on the edge the whole time and when they finally got together man I was in love with Jared. ( )

Bully was recommended to me by my auntie after we were discussing how much we both enjoyed Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. And it turned out to be a fine recommendation

Bully is a story of a girl named Tate, she is a seventeen/eighteen year old (should we say nerd?) just trying her best to get somewhere in life and keep herself on track. Her disruption to her plan is her once best friend Jared. Handsome he may be but he comes equipped with an horrible attitude and after coming back from a summer vacation he has turned against her making her life hell.
After taking so much crap from everyone around her because of Jared and a few of his friends Tate finally lets herself go and sticks up for herself, demanding respect without even knowing it.

I found the majority of the book a really great read. Obviously there were certain situations that Tate was put in that i found quite humorous and i could easily relate to her approach on her revenge. I did find the racing part of it a great addition, many of this type of book play safe and dont venture into a hobby of the characters which leaves a lack of realism. Penelope hasn't over prettiefied her characters which makes them more realistic and she also shows a good strong bond between Tate, her father and granny, i actually found myself thinking "finally a book that doesn't make teenagers assholes to their relatives or vice versa!

The only thing i wasn't enjoyng about this book was how easily Tate gave in to Jared, even though she admits to not trusting him and wanting to hate him she easily accepts him. but i suppose that's how to move the story along.

other than that one point (and skipping the sex parts because I dont find the appeal, which is personal preference.) This book is a great story that deserves five star ratings.

However as much as i enjoyed this story i wont be getting the next as i feel it will be more like book porn, perhaps the one with Jared P.O.V may end up in my hands instead!

Right, because the one person you should totally date is the one person who, the second his life got difficult:
1. verbally shit all over you for three years
2. disrepected you over and over again
3. spread rumors and recruited other people into spreading rumors about you
4. kept all the other potentially nice boys away since they didn't "deserve to be with you"
5. flirted and hooked up with your best friend with the express purpose of revenge

But it's okay, it was all a ruse to cover his hurt feelings, he really loves you.

Way to go, girl.

If this was meant to be an indictment against bullying, it failed, miserably. If a person is an asshole, why would they stop being an asshole when there are no repercussions for their actions? Actually, it seemed like Jared got rewarded for his shitty behavior since he got his girl, kept his friends, never lost status. ( )
