Dolphins are amazing. This is about eight dolphins of Katrina that ended up in the ocean and patiently waited for their rescue. Amazingly, they all survived and were reunited with their trainers. ( )

This book is mostly about the wonderful story of eight dolphins who survived Hurricane Katrina. They go swept out to sea after the hurricane, and because they all stuck together they were able to survive. They were all found in the open ocean and brought back home.

This could have been a great real-life survival story but the author's recounting of the events is too brief and seems rushed. The illustrations also seem poorly matched to the story. ( )

This book tells the story of the eight dolphins who were swept out to sea during Hurricane Katrina. It talks about the events leading up to the hurricane and how six other dolphins were moved to nearby hotel pools. The author then explains how the dolphin tank was destroyed causing the dolphins who stayed at the oceanarium to get swept out to sea. The book then explains how the trainers went about finding and rescuing the dolphins. At the end of the book there are several short stories about other famous dolphins.

I enjoyed this book because it focused on a part of the destruction from Hurricane Katrina that many people were probably unaware of. I think that the stories about the other dolphins at the end of the book were unnecessary because they took away from the main focus of the book. I did like the pictures from the actual even at the end of the book but I was not a huge fan of the illustrations that accompanied the story. I think that having real photographs throughout the entire book would have made a more powerful statement. ( )
