If it flies, drives, or fornicates, it's cheaper to rent it. Nick is a top earner in the Market Garden, where rentboys fulfill their high-rolling clients' every sexual fantasy. As a Dom and a sadist, he sets his own price and is experienced enough not to let any client get out of hand. He's damn good at his job, and it's easy money. Or at least it used to be. But now he has a boyfriend. Spencer is a former client, a closeted corporate lawyer, and so beautifully submissive he's perfect for Nick. He doesn't even mind how Nick earns a living. He just wants to take care of Nick - something Nick isn't quite sure how to handle. In fact, Nick's clearly off his game these days. Sure, he's tired from his shift work and his studies, but mainly he's bored by his clients and distracted by thoughts of Spencer - dangerous for everyone when he's wielding a whip. Now Nick has to make a choice: give up his independence, or walk away from the only man he's ever loved. This 42,000 word novella was previously published.… (mehr)

This is another fantastic addition to the Market Garden series. These books are full of surprises, be it hot sex, intriguing characters or simply story lines that grab you by the throat.

This is one where we revisit a couple we met in an earlier book. They are still sexy as hell, but now have a lot more to work around. The stress of combining a relationship with Nick's profession is something he needs to come to terms with and hard decisions need to be made. The journey that Nick and Spencer take towards these decisions is a beautiful one to be a part of. There is so much depth in this, and you really feel for all of the players.

I can't wait to read the next one. ( )

This second volume of Spencer and Nick's story is as fascinating as the first, if not more so. Nick is the one to tell the second part of their story, and that is very fitting. Where it was Spencer who learned about himself and made some major adaptations to his personal life in the first book, it is now Nick's turn. They have already given up the idea that Spencer pays for Nick's services and are 'boyfriends' at the beginning of this sequel.

Nick knows this 'new status' will take some getting used to, but the full impact of the psychological and emotional changes totally blindside him. What he expects is for Spencer, at some point, to get upset that he is still a rent boy; after all that is what happened last time he tried this 'boyfriend thing'. What Nick doesn’t expect is for him to be the one to struggle. His gradual realization that the tension he feels, his muscle aches, and the general unhappiness each time he has to work, was well described, totally logical, and psychologically fascinating. The inner war Nick fights between needing to remain financially independent and staying with Spencer, having him as his only sub, is intense and kept me glued to the pages.

Spencer is in a much better place than in the first book. He is secure in the knowledge that he is a submissive, beginning to be comfortable with his masochistic needs, and begins to ask Nick for other things they can try. There is only one problem: he hates how Nick is tearing himself apart. Spencer truly has no issue with Nick being a rent boy, but he does have a problem with Nick being unhappy. Spencer can massage Nick's tension away every time he comes 'home', but he cannot cure the cause; that is up to Nick. Luckily, Spencer figures out a way to help them both.

The passion between Spencer and Nick is high and grow every time they try a new kink, and what I liked even better was the gradual shift toward making love rather than having sex. Nick's increasing emotional involvement plays a major role in that, and resulted in some beautiful scenes that were no less kinky than in books one, but the additional layer of feelings (on both sides) made them even hotter.

If you like your BDSM stories to be infused with lots of passion and even love, if you liked the first book and want to know how Spencer and Nick's journey develops, and if you're looking for a super-hot read that is as psychologically fascinating as it is revealing, then you will probably like this novella. It's definitely on my 'to read again' list.

They have already given up the idea that Spencer pays for Nick's services and are boyfriends at the beginning of this sequel. This rerelease gave me just the “excuse” I needed to read this book again - since I had originally put in on my “to read again list” - and I enjoyed Spencer and Nick’s story just as much the second time around!
