"Molly and Daniel Sullivan are settling happily into the new routines of parenthood, but their domestic bliss is shattered when a gang retaliates against Daniel after he makes a big arrest. Daniel wants his family safely out of New York as soon as possible. Knowing she needs to protect their young son Liam, Molly agrees to take him on the long journey to Paris to stay with her friends Sid and Gus, who are studying art in the City of Light. But upon arriving in Paris, nothing goes as planned. Sid and Gus are nowhere to be found, and Molly's search for them leads her to the doorstep of a renowned Impressionist artist, whom she's horrified to learn has just been murdered. The longer Molly goes without finding her friends, and the more she learns about the painter's death, the more she starts to wonder if she and Liam might be in even more danger in Paris than they were at home. As Impressionism gives way to Fauvism and Cubism and the Dreyfus affair rocks France, Molly races through Paris to outsmart a killer in Rhys Bowen's most spectacular Molly Murphy novel yet"--… (mehr)

Molly leaves New York City for Paris with son Liam after her Patchin Place house is bombed and burns to visit Sid and Gus who are in Paris to take in the art scene. When she gets there, Sid and Gus are not at their apartment, but their things are. Molly begins an investigation to find them and stumbles on a murder. Along the way she meets some of the great artists: Degas, Pablo Picasso, and Mary Cassette. ( )

I enjoyed this book because I like art and really would like to see Paris some day. Molly met some of my favorite artists well as some fictional ones including the murderer and victim. ( )

When Daniel's work hits to close to home, leaving his, Molly, and baby Liam's home in a pile of rubble, and their maid Aggie dead, the department is forced to protect the family. Molly and Liam are sent to visit Sid and Gus in Paris until the danger is controlled.

Molly is devastated by the loss of her servant, her home, and now being torn from her husband. When she finally arrives to Paris, she is shocked when Sid and Gus do not arrive to meet her and the baby. She is even more alarmed when she finds their apartment unoccupied. The landlady is less than welcoming, but begrudgingly allows them to stay, because the rent is paid until the end of the month.

Knowing she can't let Daniel know, Molly sets out to find her friends in this Bohemian life...only to be drug into yet another murder case. Where are Sid and Gus? Are Molly and Liam in danger in Paris too? ( )

I love the series but liked it better when Molly wasn't tied down by Daniel and she spent more time detecting instead of arguing with and evading her husband. ( )

Molly does a lot of walking around 1905 Paris in this latest entry into the series. Fleeing NYC Mafia threats, Molly and 8 month-old Liam, sail to Paris to visit friends Sid and Gus. But she finds they have disappeared, and a murder has occurred. Of course, Molly unearths the culprit as she explores Paris and particularly the art scene at that time. A bit slow in resolution and while the period details are interesting, they interfere with the momentum of the plot. ( )

This book is dedicated to the memory of Sally Fellows.
Sally was one of the first champions of the Molly Murphy series,
a terrific friend and mentor to the mystery community,
and an aficionado of all things historical.  She loved good wine,
good friends, good books, her dog.  The only thing she hated
was bad puns.  At every convention we will go on looking at the
empty chair where we expect to find her and sigh a little.
