Catty Jane was born to dance. When she's old enough, she enrolls at Mrs. Herron's Dance Academy where she learns that ballet takes a lot of practice. On her way home from class, the kitten meets Froggy, who shows her his vaulting and somersaulting moves. It doesn't look anything like ballet and Catty Jane tells him so. The two pals sit in angry silence until friends come along and suggest a dance party. Catty Jane wants nothing to do with that kind of dancing either. But when she overhears the fun her friends are having, and her mom gives her an encouraging nudge, Catty Jane joins the crowd and has a good time. Perhaps it is not the kind of dancing that matters, but that you get up and move.… (mehr)

Valeri Gorbachev continued her sketch-like illustrations in this book to add simplicity to her story. Catty Jane wants to be a dancer more than anything else. Catty Jane initially doesn't appreciate the dancing of her friends because it is not like her ballet that she was learning. She goes to dance by herself and then she starts missing her friends and seeing how much fun they are having so she goes back and they all dance and have together, even though they are all dancing differently. Catty Jane takes ballet lessons. ( )
  Sullywriter | May 22, 2015 |
Catty Jane wanted to become a ballerina dancer from the moment she was born. So, her mother thought when she was finally old enough she could take dance lessons at Mrs. Herron's Dance Academy. Catty Jane loved taking the dance class, but she seemed to be obsessed with dancing all the time, so much so that she really didn't have too much time for her friends. Towards the end of the story she realized that she was still able to have fun times with her friends, even though she was involved in an extra activity. ( )
