The first book was a great introduction to the characters and their situation. This book was better. More emotional, with feelings to be traversed and a more satisfying mystery to tax Andy and Jon. And whilst the short epilogue was a nice touch I found I had to skip back to the last page of the story proper, just to touch base with our couple again before I closed the book. Dead in the Desert is the second book in the L.A. Paranormal series, but can be read as a stand-alone. The books are cozy mysteries in that neither Jon nor Leander are cops or private detectives, but are amateurs who get drawn into the edges of criminal investigations. The paranormal part involves Leander, who is a psychic sometimes consulted by the police to find dead bodies or missing people. This book is told first-person by Jon, who is still getting over tragedy in his past and unwilling to admit he wants more for Leander than their current roommates-with-benefits relationship. He must find the courage to ask for what he wants as the two of them are drawn into another action-packed investigation. The story opens when Jon reluctantly and protectively escorts Leander into the desert with a couple of homicide detectives who exploit Leander’s power of psychometry (he can pick up psychic impressions by holding objects) to find a couple of dead bodies buried in the sand. Then they pick up another assignment to find a missing young man who is due to inherit a fortune. ~ Val for AReCafe Zeige 3 von 3

Jon Cooper used to think he wanted a life free of complications, but that was before he got involved with his roommate, Leander. Jon knows that the only thing he can't lose is what he doesn't have, but where does that leave him?Leander Thorne, on the other hand, is an easygoing bookworm, with an addiction to books and cooking shows, and a soft spot for Jon, despite Jon's grumpiness. He also happens to be a psychic specializing in finding lost pets and-more recently-lost people. He's good at it. Too good if you ask Jon, Unsolved crimes, missing people and bodies buried in the Mojave Desert make Jon's and Leander's lives anything but uncomplicated. Jon is forced to dig into his soul and find a way to let go of his past if he wants to keep Leander. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
