Finalmente riesco a leggerlo. Dopo questo mi mancano ancora due libri da leggere prima della fine di questa serie. Però devo dire che sta andando troppo per le lunghe. Continuano a dire "finalmente uccidiamo Setrakus" e poi nulla. Io lo avrei ucciso già nel primo libro e voi ce ne mettete sette? Alla faccia, grandi protettori della Terra vedo.
A discapito del titolo fuorviante (perché o cambiavano Sette con Otto, oppure traducevano direttamente il titolo originale, senza fare un mix senza alcun senso), posso dire che questo libro mi è piaciuto abbastanza.
Finalmente succede qualcosa! Grazie agli dèi, la storia va (lentamente) in avanti, e si divide in tre blocchi. Nel primo seguiamo Ella, o Numero Dieci, mentre è sulla nave di Setrakus Ra e scopre di più sugli obiettivi dei Mogadorian. Questo pare quello più importante. Poi abbiamo una parte dei Garde, ovvero Quattro e Nove che, assieme a Sam, cercano di sventare l'invasione. E infine abbiamo Marina, ovvero Numero Sette, e Numero Sei, assieme al Mogadorian/Lorein Adam.
Per me si sono creati troppi gruppi divisi da seguire. Poteva benissimo fare accadere molte cose nei libri precedenti e invece ha allungato volontariamente il brodo per scrivere più libri. E infatti si trovano in tutti dei punti morti e fasi di stallo facilmente evitabili.
Il libro è un mix tra fantasy e fantascienza: se da una parte di sono gli alieni (e tra l'altro quelli a sembrare strani sono ovviamente i Mogadorian, mentre i Lorein sembrano umani... Banalità portami via), c'è anche una certa dose di magia che possiamo vedere sia per quanto riguarda Lorein che le Eredità dei giovani Garde.
Non mi aspettavo del tutto quello che Setrakus racconta a Numero Dieci, né il finale del libro. Forse nel prossimo succederà davvero qualcosa di importante, ma non ci spero più di tanto.
Per quanto riguarda i personaggi, vediamo un'evoluzione del rapporto tra Sam e Sei, mentre Quattro e Sarah sono stabili, anche con la ricomparsa di Mark. Carina anche l'amicizia tra Quattro e Nove, che sarebbe anche meglio senza tutta quella inutile roba da "macho" che l'autore ha deciso di infilarci. Nove è un po' uno spaccone, ma sotto sotto (molto sotto) si vede che gli interessa di John/Quattro... E mi era già partita la ship nei libri precedenti, figuratevi ora che Nove gli dice che Quattro ha "bisogno del suo affetto".
Per quanto mi riguarda, però, in questo tipo di libri io preferisco sempre non avere coppie o cose romantiche, ma in qualche modo c'è sempre. Dopo un po' stanca.
Anche Cinque sembra cambiare, evolversi, e alla fine mi piace anche. Si vede che non capisce da che parte stare, vede i problemi in entrambi, e alla fine deve fare una scelta.
Sette/Marina invece qui non mi è piaciuta proprio. Sembrava una bimba un po' stupida che tiene il broncio... Speriamo che nel prossimo libro si calmi, altrimenti spero che muoia.
Ma poi mi spiegate perché se c'è una guerra, a dover proteggere il pianeta/la nazione/qualsiasi cosa sono degli adolescenti instabili guidati dai loro ormoni in subbuglio che non li fanno ragionare? Qualcuno deve spiegarmelo.
L'unico Mogadorian, a parte Setrakus, di cui possiamo vedere le reazioni e le emozioni è Adam, di cui non so cosa pensare, per ora. Sembra dalla parte dei "buoni", e a questo punto sarebbe un po' banaluccio renderlo un traditore, ma in questa serie non si sa mai.
Spunta "magicamente" qualche donna Mogadorian, di cui nei quattro libri precedenti non si vedeva neanche l'ombra, e scopriamo qualche differenza tra i Mogadorian puri e i Soldati.
Per quanto riguarda lo stile di scrittura, il libro si legge velocemente, tanto che io l'ho letto in una giornata, e sembra migliore del precedente in generale, sia per quanto riguarda la storia sia per come è stato scritto (e tradotto). C'è sempre quel problema riguardo i POV. E' narrato in prima persona dai vari Garde, ma non c'è scritto chi parla e ogni volta bisogna ragionarci un attimo... ( )

If your kind of book is an action packed, science fiction one, then you'll love this book. I sure know that i did. "The Revenge of Seven" is an incredible book by Pittacus Lore (whoever he is), and is a great fit in the "I Am Number Four" series. Even though this book closely continues where "The Fall of Five" left off, it will not take too much effort to understand the plot and form a connection with most of the characters. The book follows the perspective of three of the Loric Garde, John, Six, and Ella, as they try to recover from the surprise Mogadorian attack on them in the previous book. However, the Garde are forced to separate into two groups in order to cover all possible ways to defeat Setrakus Ra and the Mogadorians. While one heads to New York in an attempt to dismantle Setrakus Ra's efforts for an easy invasion on Earth. The way that the author developed the storyline also made me deeply enjoy this novel. He definitely used very descriptive vocabulary to help readers see Earth from the Loric's point of view, with the Mogadorians as monsters that are trying to kill kids and exterminate an entire species. This really helped me in trying to assimilate the p[lot of the entire "I Am Number Four" series, having only read two books prior to reading this one. I also really enjoyed the fact that the story is told from three different points of view, allowing for the reader to know things that even some of the other characters don't. This adds to the already large amount of suspense, leaving us wondering whether or not the characters will discover this valuable piece of knowledge that we have. Despite how much I liked this book, I rate it with 4.5 stars out of five, as there are a few parts that are confusing, and the ending, although I enjoy the sense of mystery that it generates, was left seeking the next book in the series, "The Fate of Ten", without the opportunity of acquiring it easily. I still loved this book, and anyone who is into science fiction, aliens, or just wants to read a young adult book will definitely enjoy it, and even if none of these are your favorite, I am sure that you will grow to love this series, with its amazing storyline and its relatable characters, and I sincerely encourage anyone to give this series a try. Another Lorien Legacy book down. I'm already almost done with the next one as I write this. There's still a few good twists and turns to not make it completely formulaic, but since it's not a labor of love by the author (who's not allowed to take credit) it's no great work of literature and there's definitely a carelessness to the work.

Still, fun summer read. Not much heavy lifting for the brain on these! ( )
