Originally put together to take on the real Justice League, this second and last volume isn't really about a group of heroes doing anything, it's a couple here and there contributing to saving the world from the events of the "Forever Evil" event.

Martian Manhunter is a total badass in this and I was pretty impressed with Stargirl, who I assumed I would hate. ( )

An interesting book - I was not quite sure where things were going for awhile, and it took me a bit to understand the main characters, and also identify what was really happening. ( )

So, I thought this would pick up where Volume 1 left off.

Yeah, okay. Ridiculous, right? To think that part 2 would directly follow part 1? Apparently.

Survivors of Evil opens with Martian Manhunter and Stargirl - two heroes that were *not* in the first. It was at this point that I realized that I forgot a lesson from my childhood - a lesson my father, an avid comics collector, taught me - that just because a comic has a similar title, and the same heroes, doesn't mean that it's on the same timeline, or even storyline.

This TPB mostly takes place during the Forever Evil story line. I’ve never read a ton of JSA titles, and so I hadn’t seen too much of Stargirl, but this story sorta made me want to read more about her.

She and J’onn, the Martian Manhunter, are stuck in a prison that is also holding all the members of the Justice League and mentally screwing with them. And it’s up to J’onn and Stargirl to break everyone out.

I liked the stories, the ‘where is the prison’ twist (which I don’t remember reading about before, but perhaps I just missed it in another TPB) was cool. I also liked how they explained why Stargirl wasn’t as hurt by the prison. And then there were the flashbacks. J’onn may not have loved Stargirl getting lost in her past memories, but I loved it. And wow, that buried memory of Stargirl’s, Wow.
