With Tandi's wedding just around the corner, a trip to the North Carolina Tidewater for a reckoning with Gina was not part of the plan. It was a great joy to once again read something with Tandi Reese as the main characters. I loved her in The Prayer Box and it was nice to see her return to her grandparents house to sort things through.

This novella starts off with Tandi getting served for fraud and there is just one person she knows of that would use Tandi's name and that's her sister Gina. So she travellers back home to her grandparents home to find out the truth and to confront her sister. What she doesn't expect is to find out that how much everyone has lied to her when she was growing up...

I think that you really know how much you have come to care for a character is when you get upset for the person's behalf. And, let me tell you there were several times in this book that I wished that Tandi's sister Gina would go to prison. That was until the end when the last conversation between them made my heart melt a bit.

The story is bittersweet, there is great moments, but also really sad ones and I do wish the story had been longer. But that's probably because I have grown to care very much for Tandi Reese and I would without a doubt read more about her.

I was disappointed that the book ended so soon and that around 40% of the book were excerpts from the books in the series. ( )

I didn't realise "The Tidewater Sisters" was only a novella when I started and I was surprised when I reached the end having only read three-quarters of the actual ebook. I enjoy Lisa Wingate's writing and had this finished in a couple of hours, but I think it would have been better as a complete novel. However, I enjoyed visiting Tandi's past and as she met her first love. For a while I was concerned there was going to be a love triangle but, thankfully, there wasn't. A sweet read. ( )

This is another Lisa Wingate hit! Tandi Jo was first introduced in The Sea Glass Sisters and The Prayer Box and captured my heart. Tandi returns to the Tidewater in North Carolina, a place that holds difficult memories. I sympathize with her when she gets tangled in a lawsuit and had strong emotions toward her sister Gina as well. Tandi’s relationship with her sister is more than strained, and so much is revealed about their past. A powerful and highly emotional read with a sweet ending.

I think of an old sermon my grandfather quoted from time to time—something about not looking back when you’re plowing a field, but instead finding a mark in the distance and focusing on that. Otherwise, the rows won’t come out straight. ~Excerpt from The Tidewater Sisters

Tandi Jo Reese has finally found a safe place to build her life and hope blooms strong as her wedding nears. However, when Tandi receives notice of a lawsuit against her, she is convinced she must confront her sister, Gina, who, most likely, is the cause of this issue. However, when she arrives in Tidewater, she finds the past she needs to confront is far more vast than she knew.

The Tidewater Sisters by Lisa Wingate is the postlude novella to The Prayer Box. In a sense, the novella could stand-alone as Wingate gives the essential background information, but I don't think it would be particularily engaging to me if I hadn't read The Prayer Box. It was my previous enjoyment of these characters that helped me enjoy The Tidewater Sisters.

As is common for novellas, there's limited character development, but Wingate does an admirable job in other areas. The plot never dragged. The relationship between Tandi and Gina rings with authenticity. She remarkably portayed the reality of dysfunctional families without a miraculous, neat, wrap-everything-up-in-a-fake-way ending. However, she managed to give Tandi a hopeful and healthy future.

Bottom Line: If you enjoyed The Prayer Box by Lisa Wingate, you'll enjoy revisiting Tandi Jo Reese in The Tidewater Sisters. ( )

I truly loved The Tidewater Sisters novella. If you haven't read Lisa's Fantastic book "The Prayer Book" go back and read it first. This novella can work as a stand alone novel, but it will mean so much more by reading "The Prayer Book" first. It will give you the history about the characters.Besides that, it was my favorite read in 2017. The author has a great way of drawing you into the story right from the start. Your heart just bleeds for her characters, they feel so real. She tells such sad tales, but she doesn't leave you there. Her characters are very strong and never give up, Tandi Jo is a fine example of a strong woman. She has an on going battle with her older sister Gina. Who is the bad guy in the story that you love to hate. It looks like finally everything is coming together for Tandi until her sister enters the picture again. I have read several of Lisa's books and I never have been disappointed. I highly recommend this novella. ( )
