"You say I'll never own you. If I win-you willingly give me that right. You sign not only the debt agreement, but another-one that makes me your master until your last breath is taken. You do that, and I'll give you this." Nila Weaver's family is indebted. Stolen, taken, and bound not by monsters but by an agreement written over six hundred years ago, she has no way out. She belongs to Jethro as much as she denies it. Jethro Hawk's patience is running out. His inheritance gift tests, challenges, and surprises him-and not in good ways. He hasn't leashed her but he thinks he might've found a way to bind her forever. Debts are mounting. Payment waiting. There are six books in total, all full length novels.… (mehr)

Leave it to Pepper to know how to turn on the sexual tension between 2 characters on high heat!! Wow you can cut the tension with a knife I love sex in books, but THE CHEMISTRY created in this book is off the charts and makes up for the lack of hot sex scenes I think that the story between the two is amazing.

First Debt was just as thrilling and suspenseful as the first book in this series. It seems like each book, we will learn about a new debt that Nila must repay to keep her family safe, and if this debt was supposed to be the easiest, I can’t imagine what the next ones are going to be! I love the imagry that is depicted and the hatred between the family is written well.

“I’m going to give you a history lesson, Ms. Weaver. You’ll listen closely and understand why you’re repaying this certain debt.” Pacing, he added, “Every debt will begin this way. The history will be told, then the debt repaid. You’ll be informed of what your ancestors did to mine. You will apologize and repent for their past sins, and only then will the extraction take place.”

Throughout this entire book my heart was crying out for Nila to stay strong, and strong she stayed. She is determined not to let the bad situation that she seems to have been born into get the best of her. She is a survivor and I love the fact that not only is she a survivor, she is a woman with a plan. I’m not a big fan of women who just accept their situation, especially if it’s a bad one. Nila knows that she has the power to control her destiny, despite what Jethro tells her, and I LOVE that about her!

“I would never be able to win. The only way I had a chance at surviving long enough to reap vengeance on the men who ruined my ancestors was to fight his ice with fire. I had to burn. I had to blaze. I had to cinder his beliefs and control to the ground. And smear his soul with the ashes of his sins.”

Jethro… he is such a deep and confused character and I love watching the layers of him peel away. Bound by duty to inflict these debts and gain retribution for his family that was wronged so long ago, I can’t help but feel pissed at him, sorry for him, and hopeful for him all at the same time. There is so much conflict running through him and so much riding on his shoulders. So not only is he at war with Nila, he’s also at war with his own conscience.

“You can sprout Bullshit all you want, but no matter your lies, you feel, Jethro. You felt something for me in the forest. You felt something for me when your brother held me in his arms. And if you can’t see that, then I feel sorry for you.”

I love how this book leaves your longing for more. I can tell this is going to be one of those series that leaves you with a bit of a hangover, but I’m sure I’ll love every minute of it. I don’t know how she does it, but Pepper always manages to keep the mystery and keep you wondering what could possibly happen next. I can’t wait to find out! I will continue to devour the series like a kid who is dying for candy. Will Kite end up with Needle or will family obligation be the victor.

I had some difficult connecting with the characters. At times I love the chemistry between Jethro and Nila and then other times there's such a disconnect that I don't really care what happens to them. I feel like this book pulled me in much more than the first one and I will definitely continue with the series because while I have an idea where this series is going, there have been quite a few shocks along the way that I wasn't expecting. The story-line of this journey is so unique, one can't help but to be drawn in. It's captivating and gruesome at the same time. When I read the first book, I had certain expectations for the rest of the series... However, Pepper has already taken me places I hadn't expected. I can't wait to continue with this journey in the second book.

In this book, we get a few answers to things that didn't quite make sense in the first book. Then, we are handed some new perplexities that we can only speculate on at this point. Nothing about the details of this story are cut and dry, black and white. It's all grey area. These characters are who you perceived them to be and, at the same time, they are not what you expected them to be.

Aside from the "debt", these characters are all forced to face who they truly are. They have buried their true selves long ago in order to appease their families. Now they are forced to let their guards down and learn some hard lessons about life. This isn't just a story about some sick family and their unwillingness to let an age-old vendetta go. It's about people forced into a life they may not have wanted for themselves, who are now learning more about themselves than they thought existed.

I got to know Jethro and Nila a lot more in this book. I can't say I dislike either of them. I don't necessarily like some of the choices they make in this part of the story. However, it is survival of the fittest in this story. Who will triumph. Who will come out on top. Who will win. We are also introduced to Kes in this book. I can say, I don't care for him. It is clear he has his own agenda, and I wouldn't doubt that he would stab his own brother in the back without batting an eyelash.

I can't wait for the next book.... Although I am a little squeamish to see what the next "debt" is that Nila will have to endure. My heart is already breaking for her after the first "debt". I expect to see more cruelty and passion as this story continues! ( )

This is the second book of the Indebted series. It picks up immediately where book one ends. Nila is on the run from Jethro. Neither can seem to get a bead on the other.
I didn't trust Jethro. At all. This was a battle. Every time we touched, licked, and eventually fucked, it would be war. And only one victor would come out alive. I have every intention of winning.

Book one kinda left me thinking WTF is going on. I seriously had no idea. This book is still very mysterious, but the reader is given several tidbits along the way that help to fill in some of the blanks. We discover some of the reasons for the debt between the families, but still have much more to learn. And we have the first of the "collections" take place.
"Then it's time for payment. Today is your First Debt, Ms. Weaver. The Debt Inheritance has begun."

Things don't exactly go as planned. Feelings come in to play. But at the end of the day, nothing changes the facts.
"How will you live with yourself when my blood pours over your perfect shoes?"

This series is full of words that have symbolic meanings and connections. I feel like there is a puzzle to be solved, a secret riddle inside. On the surface it's definitely a battle of wills, but not the battle one would think. Learning more about the Hawks, makes me wonder who is really the one in control. Will Nila have enough time to figure it out and save herself, or is already too late?
We would keep on ruining each other. We would keep on desecrating debts and vows. And we would keep on fucking up our future until nothing but horror remained.

I liked Debt Inheritance, but First Debt is quite a bit better in my opinion. The storyline is better. I felt more of an attachment—less vague, more personal feeling. This definitely left me wanting more, and I will absolutely continue with the next read as soon as it's available.
