The police pick Kate as their number-one suspect, so she teams up with her boyfriend Michael, best friend Rene, and German shepherd sidekick Bella to find the real killer. They must solve the crime before the police arrest Kate, or her next gig may last a lifetimeâ??behind bars.

I enjoyed this a bit more then the last book, probably because the main characters are better developed. Not a lot of yoga in the book but enough to give the mystery flavor and I found the retreat center interesting. ( )

I really enjoyed this story. I had not read the first one, but I got to know and care for the characters quickly. I loved the yoga parts and the island setting. The murderer was on my suspect list, but not near the top. I also had the motive wrong. I like when the author outwits me. I will certainly continue reading this series (and get a copy of the first one.) ( )

Yoga instructor and studio owner, Kate Davidson, gets a chance to work at the reopening of the Elysian Springs resort. But it is also part vacation because she only has to teach a few classes and can enjoy the lovely site as much as she wants. She is accompanied by her boyfriend, Michael, and beloved German Shepard, Bella. Also her BFF and her husband make an appearance. The highlight of the grand opening is the wedding of the two people who own the resort, Emmy and Josh. So of course Emmy's family is there, including her father and his young wife and Emmy's mother. This is bad enough but the wife is a major pain and manages to alienate almost everyone at the resort. When Kate finds the woman, dead in a hot tub, she tries to save her. But when she is seen with the body, all eyes turn to her as the killer.

This book was fun. I love that Kate is a normal human being who is trying very hard to live by the ideals of yoga. Um, did I say normal? Well quirky might be a better word. Anyway, she struggles with her temper just like everyone, well maybe a bit more than everyone. But you can't help but love her anyway. I love the other characters too. Michael is probably the most understanding guy around but even he gets pushed to the edge this time. This book is the poster child for the vacation gone wrong. I can totally relate. Looking forward to the next book in the series. ( )

Vacations are fun, but at the same time, they can be chaotic just getting from A to Z. In this case, the A to Z is from Seattle to Orcas Island to stay at a retreat center called Elysian Springs. For Kate Davidson, this is a working vacation. Her boyfriend, Michael, and her German Shepherd dog, Bella, are traveling with her. Kate is a yoga instructor, having opened her own studio, Serenity Yoga, a couple of years prior. She will be providing yoga classes for the members of Emmy and Josh’s wedding party during their stay at the retreat.

Bella is a sweet dog, with some dietary issues. But, Bella doesn’t get along well with other dogs. Thank goodness there is a leash law on the island; unfortunately not everyone adheres to the leash law policy. Monica, Emmy’s step mother owns a Jack Russell Terrier. She allows him to run free. He just happens to think playing with Bella might be great fun. Kate and Michael try to stress to Monica to keep her dog away, but Monica can’t be concerned about anything that doesn’t make Monica happy. Needless to say, Monica doesn’t make too many friends. Kate finds her floating face down in one of the hot tubs. She tries to resuscitate her. But her actions are misinterpreted; that plus everyone knew their dislike for each other. Now Kate is suspected in Monica’s murder.

This is a fun cozy with good pacing. The characters were entertaining and personable; and Monica is entertaining and ‘hate-able’. There is a romantic aspect. Kate loves Michael but she’s not sure she wants to be wed and she’s afraid he’s getting ready to pop the question. I enjoyed the descriptions of some of her yoga routine; they sounded like very relaxing and beneficial movements. This is the second book in the series, but I felt comfortable with having read it as a standalone. I enjoy pets within novels; it gives more of an everyday feel to the story. But Bella seemed to have a lot of space in this book. Unless animals are tantamount to helping solve the mystery, I question the overindulgence. I rated A Killer Retreat at 3.5 out of 5. ( )

This is the second book in the series. Lots of mystery, lots of suspects, lot of Yoga, interesting characters and cute animals.

Kate Davidson is a Yoga teacher. She has been hired to come to a retreat that is having a grand opening. Her boyfriend Michael and her dog came with her. The first part of the book I did not think much of Kate. She is rude and mean. Kate has a temper that I find hard to believe in someone who owns a Yoga studio and teaches it.

The setting for this book is Elysian Springs resort that is on a island a few hours away from
Seattle Washington. I would like to go their except for the nude hot tubs. The whole resort is a vegan.

Monica is murdered and Kate had threatened her twice. Monica has offended lots of people at the resort. The owners are getting married. Monica is the step-mother of the bride.

The yoga classes sound peaceful. I have never been to one but it does tempt me to try it.

I was given this ebook to read so I could give honest review of A Killer Retreat and be part of it's blog tour. ( )
