But he just goes around saying blech for most of the book. Storytime audiences might enjoy it. Yet I feel like if I can't support it, I won't translate/read it well. So I'm not doing this one for Valentine's Day either ( ) Welcome to Valentine’s Day, a time when everyone is caught up in pink bouquets, sweet candy treats, and cheesy cards. Everyone, that is, except Crankenstein. He doesn’t like underwear with hearts, chocolate with coconut, or being in the school pageant. Yechhhh! What could possibly melt this Crankenstein’s heart? Something everyone needs. Check out this picture book and discover the secret. The Bottom Line: Not everyone is a fan of candy hearts, flowers, and kisses. This large picture book with bright, bold illustrations is perfect for kids in Preschool – Grade 1 who don’t enjoy the lovey-dovey nature of the season. This review also appears at the Mini Book Bytes Book Review Blog. Not quite the same as the first book. That's universal - everyone has a bad day and almost everyone can lose their temper or growl at their mom. But this one is directed at the slightly smaller group of folks who can't stand the 'mushy gushy' holiday. Roses are red. Violets are blue. Valentine's Day stinks. Seriously. P.U."" Genre: Contemporary Realistic Fiction. I thought maybe fantasy but I don't think the main character is actually a monster or anything. I think the way he is drawn is to help show how he feels. So with that being said there is nothing that couldn't happen in real life. Media: Adobe Photoshop Uses: I would use this as a fun Valentine's Day read. I feel like kids would really like this book if they were at the age were boys and girls had cooties. I just think it is very cute and fun and not mushy like some Valentine's day books.
