Some of the dialogue was funny and mad me laugh but most chapters seemed long and drawn out. I found having two ‘endings’ distracting and didn’t really like it. Felt is was confusing and uninteresting. Probably won’t read another of this author’s books as didn’t find this as interesting as I had hoped. Too bad. Felt it had potential. ( ) Max Tudor, former MI5 agent turned Anglican Priest of St. Etwold’s Parish in Nether Monkslip, is enjoying fatherhood and new living arrangements with Awena. In The Haunted Season, Book #5 of G.M. Malliet’s Max Tudor Mystery series, a sinister, macabre murder occurs at Totleigh Hall, home of Lord and Lady Baaden-Boomethistle and Max must put his sleuthing cap on to solve this case. No one expects the ending to be quite so horrific. Another (#5) charming episode in this cozy mystery series. I enjoy the map of the village, the characters, the dialogue, the locations and the plots. **** My greatest wish would be to live in Nether Monkslip, the wonderfully life-like village in the Haunted Season. In this installment of the series, Max Tudor is a new father trying to find balance with the added responsibilities of fatherhood. When he receives an invitation to dine at Totleigh Hall, he plans to attend out of curiosity about the family who once reigned over the small village. Will murder put a damper on his plans? GM Malliet has created a small village setting that surpasses all but Miss Marple's St. Mary Mead. The characters are people who seem familiar and likable from the first meeting. This has become one of my favorite series. This is one of those cozy mysteries that permeates a sense of well-being with every word. I adore listening to the audio book, as I can knit as I hear the novel, making me feel doubly productive. This novel utilizes the movie "Strangers on a Train" as attempting to commit a murder, but providing an alibi. The characters run the gamut from silly to evil, and all the adjectives in between the mix. Max Tudor solves a mystery introduced in earlier novels concerning the killing of his past partner. The description of the English countryside and the events of this small community endear this series to the reader. A nice story that does not leave fear and suspicion in the reader's mind. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Something sinister is afoot at Totleigh Hall, the showcase of the sleepy English village of Nether Monkslip. Lord and Lady Baaden-Boomethistle have been in residence for some weeks now, and the villagers are hoping for a return to the days when the lord of the manor sprinkled benefits across the village like fairy dust. But a sudden grisly death intervenes, and Max Tudor's talent for sorting through clues is once again called into play. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
