I bought this on a b0go sale with Audible on a whim, I really enjoyed it even though I haven't read any others in the series, since I was listening and didn't have all the backstory it got a little confusing but definitely still enjoyed it. ( )

I had never read a book by this author before, I plan to read the other books in this series! Excellent writing, super engaging story. Spy books can be either exciting or boring. This book grabs you immediately and never lets go.

As always, Silva's story keeps moving almost faster than I can keep up. This one is mostly about the other guy (the spy in the title) though of course Gabriel is in it up to his neck.

I requested this book by mistake from the library; I meant to ask for the English Assassin, book two in the series. That one must be the introduction of that character. Probably would have helped to read them in proper order but the story worked okay on its own. ( )

Shortly after the end of the Heist, Gabriel Allon is again pulled away from his pregnant wife and his art restoration to look for the assassin, Eamon Quinn, a former Irish IRA terrorist, who has blown up a yacht on which the former wife of the Prince of Wales and her companions were sailing. Gabriel contacts Christopher Keller on the Island of Corsica to help locate the assassin. There follows the usual group of Israel's spys brought together in an elaborate plan to find and terminate Eamon Quinn along with anyone else responsible for the Princess's death and Gabriel Allon's almost death. The English Spy opens seventy-two hours after the end of Silva's The Heist. Again, Allon is pulled away from his wife and his art restoration to save a friend, this time the friend is Christopher Keller. The task is to find and assassinate Eamon Quinn, former Irish terrorist now in "private practice" who has killed the ex-wife of the Prince of Wales and her companions. ... Eamon Quinn. The man who could make a ball of fire travel a thousand feet per second.
The search for Quinn is extensive and filled with fast moving action and results in many deaths, some of them surprising.
