A good, relatively easy to understand introduction to Western Philosophy. While some philosophers are given very brief, cursory explanations (and others none at all), it does the job of giving a basic overview of the basic concepts of western philosophy. It is a starting point, complete with appendix of where to explore further. ( )

I can't help but compare this with Action Philosophers. This is neither good or bad because both share different ideas and both lack things as well. I think if one wants comic book that covers ALL philosophy you'll probably never get one because it would be too long. They are both great reads though and recommend both to learn about philosophy the easy way.

Like Action Philosophers this book covers a wide range of different thinkers, yet this only seems to cover male Western Philosophy. At least with Action Philosophers you get two females (Wollstonecraft and Rand) and some non-Western ideas. This comic book is also very brief compared to Action Philosophers.

Unlike Action Philosophers where it was more about the person rather than the idea, this comic book is brief with the bio and dives right into the ideas. I kind of liked that though. Sometimes the bio is nice, but sometimes it's not that interesting...especially if it's people who may or may not have existed.

I still like Rene Descartes though. I haven't read him in awhile, but he's still one I kind of understand the most. Still need to read Darwin and Nietzsche. I think David Chalmers scares me a little (even though I'm curious to read his stuff). Those are some you'll find in this comic book.

Both this and Action Philosophers thought me one thing, actually READ the works. Don't look them up on Wikipedia or Google quotes, that's basically asking for trouble. If you want to learn about their ideas, read form there own works. Let the philosopher change your mind, not the nobody who hasn't bothered to read multiple types of philosophy. ( )

This is a fun, informative overview of Western Philosophy.

When I say "overview", I'm taking about the briefest references to the arguments of the heavy hitters on very specific topics, each in its own section: Logic, Perception, Minds, Free Will, God, and Ethics.

As I say, brief. Very brief. Barely a taste. What this offers is a toe-hold into Western Philosophy in a mildly charming, non-threatening way. I say bravo!.

Ends with a brief glossary and a bibliography that points to works on each of the Philosophers and Ideas discussed. ( )

This is a very enjoyable, but (necessarily) superficial, introduction to basic philosophical concepts, such as logic, free will, the existence of god, and so on. The text is well-written and humorous, and the illustrations, even though they are in black and white, are excellent and engaging, with lots of little details to enjoy. I'm using this in my daughter's home schooling, and I will immediately follow it with something more substantial and in depth. Actually, she read Sophie's World when she was about 8 years old - so she may be ahead of me! ( )

a good start for a beginner to get to know about philosophy, famous philosophers.
The book could be easily and interestingly finished in 2-3 hours. ( )
