A thoroughly enjoyable zombie romp unlike any other piece of zombie lore I've come across.

This story weaves a wonderful tragicomic tale of apocalypse where we follow Amo as he comes to terms with all that has happened. I feel like I really can't say very much about this story without spoiling what I would deem to be the pinnacle of the tale.

As with previous Grist novels, it is well written and nicley paced. I read the whole thing over a two day period and everytime I put it down, I found myself itching to get back to it to see what happened. ( )

While the start is fairly typical, there's a nice twist some way in that considerably changes the overall tone.

Even for the first bit it does help that the protagonist is rather the Lovable Nerd than some die-hard prepper or military. ( )

This will be the fourth book I have read and reviewed from [Michael John Grist] and I have to say [The Last: A Zombie Novel] is by far my favorite. [Grist] has a knack at getting the voice of the character just right. He has done this in all of his novels, even his non fiction memoir.

I love the humanity and roller coaster of moods and emotions that [Grist] takes the reader through. This was not your typical 'zombie' novel, well it started that way but there was a great twist about halfway through. Only thing that may throw some people is that [Grist] is British and this book is set in the U.S. so some terms are British and not what we use here on this side of the pond but use your context clues people! Highly recommend reading this book. ( )
