Lyric sets out to rescue her family and all the Alpha who have been rounded up. Instead of rescuing everyone, she finds herself right in the middle of all the torture and the insane plan to use children to save the world. Lyric is still torn between running away with those she loves and using her powers to fix all that has gone wrong in the world. ( ) If you like dystopian/apocalyptic/YA books, this should be right for you...with that being said, it is not a stand alone book, you absolutely have to read the first book in the trilogy, Undertow, to make any sense out of Raging Sea. It starts up right where book 1 left off, with Lyric Walker, her bff Bex and her frenemy Arcade trying to get to a virtual fortress of evil scientists and experimentation, Tempest, in order to find those who has survived from the attack in the first book. I found the story to move along at a good pace with plenty of action and suspense, however I did find this book lacking in character development and the argument between Lyric and her love interest Fathom to be unnecessary in it's stubbornness and too lengthy, but other than that, it is a book for 9th graders on up so it is appropriately written for it's intended age group. This quote from Arcade about sums it up..."Your city has been demolished. Your friends are dead and gone. Enemies roam your lands. Soldiers have taken your people, torn them from the arms of their mothers, all to cut them open and see how they work! Does none of this burn your passions? Where is your fury?" I can't wait for book 3. Second book failure-2.5 stars The first 1/3 of the book was slow. The people she met,her memories, her petty little fights just seemed stupid. The MC was so immature, yes i know she is young but this was over the top. The author has the bad guys do some really heinous deeds, detailed and he has the sex scene fade to black. Yes, it actually says "fade the black" I was sick of her special unbreakable snowflake attitude that she could take them all on and win. She was like a stupid caveman with god powers. Irked me IRK IRK IRK Then she wakes up after her fade to black night, he's gone. She's worried about telling the other girl about his choice, picking her ?!?!? Oh yes, there is another girl, a fiancee. Excuse me but their wasn't any such talk, or anything about this just a fade out. The last 1/4 of the book was action packed, and horrifying. Children being used as weapons, dying children. There was this weird death scene where goodish guy kills bad guy, it's so instant so lame and then super bitch takes over ? WTH was that? I was disappointed. I will continue because I want to see what happens with Fantom, who acted like a doormat in this book- sigh- I just didn't like this book. I will not be in a rush to read #3 but I will read it. It seemed like the author was confused about who they were writing for. Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

"Lyric Walker was there when the Alpha arrived. Like many, she wondered if they were invaders, never suspecting that they were on the run from a greater terror. When the real threat arrived, it came with a tidal wave that destroyed Coney Island. Everything and everyone Lyric ever cared for, including the Alpha prince Fathom, was either killed or lost forever. It changed the world. Now the military fights a war it cannot win against an enemy that will not die. Walls and roadblocks pit state against state. Refugees are public enemies, and a new nightmare approaches that is even more terrifying and deadly. In the midst of this chaos, Lyric, along with her best friend, Bex, and the prickly Alpha girl Arcade, search for Tempest, a rumored top secret camp where her parents might be imprisoned. But once they find it, she is captured as well, and offered a deadly deal she cannot refuse. The world's last, best hope is a group of thirty-three children who possess the same powers as she. It falls on her to train them before the second wave of a cataclysmic invasion eliminates mankind for good."--Jacket flap. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
