In this book the author profiles seven of them: Corrie ten Boom, Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa, Hannah More, Susanna Wesley, Joan of Arc, and Maria Skobtsova. I loved learning about Rosa Parks' activism long before her fateful day on the bus. Corrie ten Boom led a selfless life and saving other during WWII was second nature to her at that point. Mother Teresa truly lived a life of servitude, but it wasn't always easy. She sank into the more desperate parts of Calcutta and asked nothing in return. Seeing someone who so completely embodied the love of Christ inspired everyone around her. Each of these women offer a reminder that their stories survive longer than just their lives. We need to think of the eternal impact we are making, instead of getting caught up in day-to-day drama. "Here you have the Welfare State. Nobody needs starve. But there is a different poverty. The poverty of the spirit, of loneliness and being unwanted." - Mother Theresa "Beautiful are the ways of God if we allow him to use us as he wants." keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

This book was an engaging overview of various Christian woman lead by their faith in God to do wonderful things for the world. I found it enjoyable, but light on details. It was written in more of a narrative-editorial format, rather than strictly biographical. Nevertheless, it was a fun read, and I recommend others to give a run-through. ( )
