This should be required reading for anyone with a thyroid problem and also Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME. We tend to assume that our medical professionals are acting in our best interests/giving us advice that will help us get well, often that is the case, but what happens when they are put under pressure from senior figures and where there is big money/large corporations involved. Remember that there was a time when smoking was not linked to lung cancer.....

Have you ever been told by your GP that your thyroid condition is treatable/reversible or were you just stuck on synthetic thyroxine (levothyroxine/synthroid) for the rest of your life? These and other important questions are addressed by the author who claims that thyroid issues are at the root of MANY everyday and more commonly occurring health problems. He also claims that the causes are largely environmental/diet related or at least that health can be vastly improved by addressing these factors. His approach is to use natural products and to dismiss the synthetic drugs, claiming that over time these contribute to poor health (I actually experienced this when my levo-thyroxine suddenly stopped working after 3-4 years.)

As a Christian, it if course makes sense to me that natural products would work better as these are what God has provided for our health and general well-being. The author, who is not religious, veers off sometimes into areas that I would not delve into to do with the spiritual aspects of healing the mind, but a discerning reader can ignore this. The author was suspended by the GMC for his alternative medicines and his licence revoked. He retired rather than fight a lengthy legal battle as he was already in his 60's. Interesting that his book has over 200 4 and 5 star reviews on Amazon....his patients obviously don't agree with the GMC.

The more I research thyroid issues due to being unwell myself and the more I learn, the more I become convinced that the medical profession is not helping thyroid patients and may instead be harming them. This is not the fault of doctors or those on the ground as they are just following their training and various guidelines.....patients need to help themselves by becoming informed.

I could write a lot more by I think it's better just to encourage those with these issues to read this book and others like it and consider the various suggestions contained within.... ( )

Written for the English market I believe this book got the author in a heap of hot water. Belongs to the 80/20 books, 80% ground breaking & 20% crackpot. But again which is which? ( )
