Spoilers. apologies for this being so LONG!! LOL

Gwen Lark and 2 of her 3 siblings have Qualified to be saved from Earth and to be taken to Atlantis. The oldest brother George was let down by his team, when the entire team (except for George) was wiped out during the final qualifying race in the 1st book of this series. George remains on eaith with his parents. when the fleet departs.

So for the next 12 months, 10 million Earth teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18 are now on board a fleet of Ark Ships that are flying back to Atlantis, which appears to be in the Pegasus Galaxy - not in the Milky way Galaxy. Lessons will continue. Subjects include Pilot training, Weapons, Language, Tech and Culture Lessons. Gwen also receives private Court protocol lessons and private Voice lessons.

Gwen is also assigned to be the Historian and Chronicler to Aeson Kass, who turns out to be Prince Aeson Kassiopei, the Crown Prince of the Atlantis Royal Family. Gwens job will be to record everything that happens within the fleet, which must be recorded in a factual manner - no bias or emotional details.

At the beginning of this book, all the teenagers were required to choose a status - Civilian or Cadet. Gwen chose to become a Citizen. Which under Atlantis laws, will not be permitted except in certain circumstances. The Teenagers from Earth will in effect be treated as "second class" citizens without certain rights. Gwen refuses to accept this and she feels that she must fight for the earth teenagers and also for her family back on earth. Her Distinctive voice may be her only chance.

All is not smooth sailing on the 1 year voyage to Atlantis. There is a sector of earth teenagers who attempt to kidnap several high ranking Atlantean staff members in order to force the ships to be turned around and sent back to earth. This attempt fails. The hijackers are either executed or put on trial.

There are also 4 social dances arranged during the flight - one per quarter or season. Gwen attends the first dance with Logan Sangre, the earth teenager who tried to recruit Gwen into his government group, one that would spy on the atlanteans and report back to earth. Gwen refuses and eventually has to admit to Logan that she wants to be with Aeson Kass. So Logan breaks up with her.

I found the way Logan was written, to be possessive of Gwen, to be annoying and sexist. NO female in the right mind would want to be witth such a man. I am very glad that he was eventually pushed to the back of the narrative in this book. He stops being so important.

The relationship with Aeson Kass does grow more important but Gwen does not discover the importance of her relationship with Aeson Kass until after the fleet finally arrives at Atlantis. Gwen and Aeson have not been able to express their feelings to each other. Indeed Aeson refuses to allow either of them to say anything.

The last chapter after the fleet finally arrives at their new home, Gwen is taken to a room, where she is cosseted, bathed, dressed, and then taken to the Imperial Court. Aeson Kass finally shows up and in from of the Imperator, (His father the ruler) Aeson announces that he will finally choose a bride. Totally unexpectedly, he chooses Gwen as his bride and seals the deal with a kiss. He has not kissed anyone in all the time he has been away from Atlantis. Gwen did receive some kisses from Logan, but they were nothing compared to this kiss.

And that is where the book ends.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait to read Book 3. But first I have to buy it. ( )

Wow!
What a cliffhanger.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and the first book and I'm already hanging out for the third instalment. I think I enjoyed this one more than the first because so much had to be learnt in the first book. This applies to 'Lark' as well as myself.
It is such a delight to read a book and not have any context or spelling errors.
Please hurry with the third book but don't sacrifice the time it takes against the proof reading. ( )
