Love is everything but expected.

Eden Monro came to California for a summer of sun, sand and celebrities Â? what better way to forget about the drama back home? Until she meets her new family of strangers: a dad she hasn't seen in three years, a stepmonster and three stepbrothers.

Eden gets her own room in her dad's fancy house in Santa Monica. A room right next door to her oldest stepbrother, Tyler Bruce. Whom she cannot stand. He's got angry green eyes and ego bigger than a Beverly Hills mansion. She's never felt such intense dislike for someone. But the two are constantly thrown together as his group of friends pull her into their world of rule-breaking, partying and pier-hanging.

And the more she tries to understand what makes Tyler burn hotter than the California sun, the more Eden finds herself falling for the one person she shouldn't...

I love this book because it brings up a very important question. What exactly makes a sibling? It's blood right? So why can't steps date? Why is it frowned upon as if they're committing incest or something?

I think this is a great book. It definitely shows society's views on all of this crap. I think that Eden and Tyler are good for each other. Eden helps Tyler deal with his bullshit, she forces him to deal with it. She shows she cares and that she's not going to give up on him. And that's what he needed. Tyler in turn, teaches her to accept her body, except herself as she is, forces her to open up to new things and just be herself and have fun.

Tiffany is an evil bitch and although I've read this series years ago, I still wish that a bus or or some kind of building would drop on her head and kill her. I'm not a bad person. I'm not this evil person that wishes death upon others. But she is so evil. She's blackmails him into staying with her. Ruins his life with his mom. Then fix a pregnancy just to stay with him. What the hell is wrong with her? Daddy issues.

I know it took me a few days to finish the book, but my actual reading time was just under 3 hours. I've just had a hell of a week and, let's just say so stressed. To put it mildly.

I am about to start the next book and try to catch up to my friend Janelle, by the way shout out to janelle, and we'll see how fast it takes me to get through the next two books so that way we can read it together. ( )

For me this book drug out more then it needed to. This is a story of forbidden love between to young adults. I did enjoy the two main characters, Tyler and Eden. The book had a good thing going at first but for me it started to become repetitive. I did manage to finish the book but I am sorry to say I do not have too many good things to say about the writing. The storyline could have been a very good one if she just would have stopped when the major parts of the story were finished; it was just drug out to me when it did not need to be.

I received an e-Book copy of this from NetGalley for my honest review.

-- Want to know if the whole series is worth reading? Read my overall review of the whole series at seriesousbookreviews.com! Spoiler Free!

The plot in Did I Mention I Love You (DIMILY) is your typical YA story set in California: lots of underage parties with the rich, beautiful kids and their overly dramatic lives. Don't forget the teen angst! It's here in buckets!

DIMILY is really just Eden trying to navigate her new everyday family life by immersing herself in the Californian way of life. She has her own insecurities from the past (that slowly get revealed in time but that I felt were pretty obvious) and she harbours a lot of (understandable) resentment towards her father whom she has agreed to stay with for the summer. She does a lot of rebelling which is interesting; it just gets monotonous over time because it is always the same thing.

Honestly, there isn't that much to the plot but there is something addicting about the story in a guilty pleasure kind of way. Mostly, I think it was the enigma that is Tyler that keep me reading because I wanted to get to the bottom of his story and could have cared less about Eden and her issues.
