I've really enjoyed this series of books and appreciate what they could do to help with the self-esteem of young children. The illustrations are colorful and we see inanimate objects, like school buses and Zambonis drawn with faces and expressing emotions going through the story. The text in the particular book was written a little unorganized, which made it hard for me to keep interest because I would keep missing full sentences and having to go back an reread the page. Once again, this book encourages kids to believe in themselves. ( )

This book uses a zamboni machine to show that everyone is cool in their own way. It has the crowd fussing about how the machine is not cool and cannot fix the ice. He says he is cool enough and great enough to fix the ice so he shows the crowd and fixes the ice. My little brother loved this book because of the machine and i love the book because it boost his confidence of be able to do things even when people say he cannot. ( )

I'm Cool is the perfect title for this book! The typography was colorful and exuberant, the dialogue between the Zamboni and the announcer was full of energy in a way that to me seemed reminiscent of a rap battle, and the illustrations were both educational and full of the type of liveliness one would expect to find at an actual hockey game. The technical language used when explaining the inner workings of a Zamboni might be a little advanced for some children, though the illustrations do a good job in translating the terms. I certainly learned a lot from this book. My younger years were spent growing about a half an hour north of Boston, MA where nearly all of my cousins played hockey at one point or another. I always found it too cold to even stand on the ice for five minutes, but enjoyed watching nonetheless. This book brought me back to some of those games and the longing to maybe one day ride atop a Zamboni- every hockey child's dream! ( )

This book was all about a Zamboni machine and how it works. The book was written as if the Zamboni machine can speak and it told us all how it works. The story begins with an announcer talking about the game, the players keep falling though because of how bad the ice is. They take an 18 minute break for the machine to fix the ice. When the machine comes out onto the ice the announcer shouts at the machine to hurry up so they can get back to the game. The machine reacts really well to being yelled at and calmly tells the man that he will talk the spectators through how he works. At the end of the book the ice is perfect for the skaters and everyone is cheering for the Zamboni!

Use: Can be used to show good reactions when people don't treat us well, it also can be used if the class is going to take a trip to a skating rink or anyone in the area plays hockey.

Genre: Fantasy- This book clearly fits into the fantasy category because we have a machine that speaks and discusses what it does with an audience.

Mode: Cartoon Illustration
