A fun story with some life lessons thrown in for good measure. Interesting story line about the relationship of man and animal, and their relationship to the earth. This is an adventure story that shows the symbiotic relationship between man and nature in a way that draws you in. Great book for children to read, might just make them more interested in learning about the animal world! ( )
Overall, Oldenglen is a highly enjoyable and satisfying book for children of reading age. Robin Mason and Michael Mason’s young adult and preteen fantasy, Oldenglen, Volume One, is a spellbinding and enthralling read set in the virgin forestland of Southwestern Oregon. I loved watching as the city-dweller in Jackson Wolfe woke up to the enchantments of the outdoors. This fantasy is original, and the plot is filled with discoveries, interactions between mankind and wild creatures, and harbingers of a dreadful plot to destroy the Glen. The Masons’ writing is smooth, assured and perfectly matched to the mood and mystery of the story. I’m looking forward to reading Volume Two of this series, and wonder what will happen to Jackson, Sarah and the Glen next. Oldenglen, Volume One is highly recommended for anyone who loves fantasy. A well-written, engaging debut fantasy. Readers who cherish the outdoors should be drawn into the story’s blend of magic, irreverent humor, and message about wildlife conservation. Gehört zur Reihe
