Homage to Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None (10 Little Indians). Follows the original very well. Who would want to kill a nun? Why? As Bea and the rest of the Literary Ladies look for clues, Bea's secret comes out as does Levi's. I enjoyed this story. Chandra is as crazy as ever and the reason is a hoot. Hank trusts the Literary Ladies and they do what they do best. I liked the librarians who were staying at Bea's. Well done. I look forward to reading the next book. ( )

As a favor to her friend Elias, Bed and Breakfast owner Bea Cartwright has agreed to help the ten nuns staying on retreat at Water's Edge Center for Spirit and Renewal. She thinks that will simply mean preparing meals and maybe running a few errands for the nuns, but when two nuns are murdered and there are attempts to kill other nuns, Bea soon finds herself involved in a murder investigation - an investigation that puts her life in real danger.

“And Then There Were Nuns” is the fourth book in Kylie Logan's League of Literary Ladies cozy mystery series but the first book I have read in the series and, while I was new to the characters and setting, I enjoyed this book very much. I love Bea as the main character - because I jumped into this mid-series I am not sure how much of a surprise some of the revelations in this book were but I did find that they made her and her relationship with Levi to be quite interesting. The other characters (Kate, Luella, and Chandra) were also interesting - I love the dynamics of their friendship. The mystery is nicely done - the homage to Agatha Christie's “And Then There Were None” is well done - subtle without simply copying the plot of that novel. The mystery is indeed well plotted with plenty of twists and turns - the type of mystery where just when you think you have the murder figured out Logan throws in another twist - well done!

“And Then There Were Nuns” is a nicely done cozy mystery - now I have to read the rest of the books in the series to see what I missed! ( )

All the secrets are out in this one; all the dancing around the past that Bea and her love interest, Levi, have been doing for three previous books comes to an end and the seltzer hits the fan, so to speak.

While this drama unfolds, Bea is helping out a neighbour in need by supplying meals to a group of 10 nuns staying on the island for a retreat, and one of Bea's closest friends starts acting oddly confrontational to the rest of the League of Literary Ladies.

Bea's having a rough week, but the most interesting part of the book is the mystery. Perhaps it's my Catholic school history, but I can't believe you can go wrong with nuns. There is so much ground for the busting of preconceived notions. The only reason I didn't find the plotting perfect was the inevitability of the guilty party being attached to Bea; that was disappointing.

Chandra's reason for her weird behaviour was blatantly obvious from the beginning, so as a sub-plot it was a non-starter for me. As for Bea and Levi - I didn't have any hopes of seeing a romantic interlude between them, so I wasn't disappointed.

A fun series I hope to see continued. ( )

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my opinion of the book or my review itself.

Bea Cartwright, a B & B owner and operator on the island of South Bass, is helping feed a group of ten nuns who have arrived for a spiritual retreat. But when nuns start being murdered one by one, Bea and her friends (the League of Literary Ladies) start to see ominous connections to the famous mystery And Then There Were None.

And Then There Were Nuns is a cozy mystery that just really works. I'm definitely in the target audience, as I am a cozy mystery lover who is also a huge Agatha Christie fan, but I feel like really any cozy mystery lover would really like this book. I do think I may have gotten a bit more out of it because I know the book it pays homage to so well-I loved picking up on the little clues involved in the number of nuns, the island setting, and throughout the story.

The ending is definitely a surprise, and one that works well with what has come before. I was excited to learn that there is another book in the series fashioned after Murder on the Orient Express, another of my all-time favorite mysteries! ( )

And Then There Were Nuns by Kylie Logan is the fourth book in the League of Literary Ladies series. Bea Cartwright owns Bea and Bees on South Bass Island, Ohio on Lake Erie. After having a wonderful night with Levi Kozlov, Bea is confronted by nuns on her front porch (a little upsetting to find a nun on your porch after a night of bliss). Ten nuns have arrived for a retreat. Bea has agreed to help out Elias Weatherly at the Water’s Edge Center for Spirit and Renewal (retreat center). Elias had to go to the mainland because his mother-in-law is ill. Bea agreed to help the nuns (with anything they would need while staying on the island) as well as supply the meals for the retreat. The nuns need a lift to the retreat center (one of the is elderly). Upon arrival Sister Sheila has an unusual reaction to her assigned room, but she will not explain (room had view of water). Then Sister Sheila turns up missing and is later found floating in the ocean (but she was terrified of water). Then Sister Helene goes missing. What is happening with the nuns and who would want to harm them? Bea and the League of Literary Ladies set out to solve the case. Will they be able to find the culprit? Things are not helped by Chandra acting a little oddly (well, odder than normal). What is going on with her? She seems to be deliberately trying to antagonize Kate and Luella. Join the ladies (Kate, Chandra, and Luella) on South Bass Island, Ohio for another adventure.

And Then There Were Nuns was a fun cozy mystery to read. I enjoyed the characters and the beautiful setting (of course, I may be a little prejudiced since I come from Ohio). The mystery was intriguing and complex. I loved solving it (you just need to follow the clues). While And Then There Nuns is the fourth book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. I give And Then There Were Nuns 4 out of 5 stars. It gave me some good laughs, entertaining characters, and an entangled mystery (what more could I ask for—being stumped)! I eagerly anticipate the next book in the League of Literary Ladies Mystery series.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley (and the publisher) in exchange for an honest review of the novel. ( )
