The main character of the story, Lyle, is a crocodile who is loved by everyone, almost everyone. The author personifies Lyle as being one of the friendliest, kindest kids around. He is loved by everyone in his school, except for one girl who continuously write him hate letters. Students will learn the concepts of love and hate of diversity as the girl writes hate letters to Lyle because she is jealous of him taking all of her friends. What a better way to show students that everyone can be different than by using a crocodile as the main character. Students will easily learn that everyone should treat others with respect no matter how different they look on the outside. ( )

Lovable Lyle was a great story. I would use this book if i was discussing bullying and feeling. Everyone loved Lyle, except his mysterious enemy. ( )

Lyle is a friendly crocodile that lives with the Primm family. Everyone in the town loves Lyle or so they all thought. One day Lyle receives a note from an enemy. Lyle tries so hard to please everyone but couldn't figure out why he had an enemy. He uses his heroism to prove that he is friendly and makes a new friend.
This is a level 3 read but is a great read aloud for younger students also. This book can be used to teach about manners, courage and friendships. ( )

This book is good for children in grades first through third. It is about a very nice crocodile who lives with a family and is loved by all, until one day when he starts getting hate mail. he was very kind to everyone so he does not understand where this hate is coming from. Finally, the clues begin to match up and he figures out that the enemy who has been writing him is the new girl in his class. She was jealous that all of the children play with him. One day at the beach, the new girl's mom was trying to get Lyle kicked out of the water, when Lyle comes to the rescue and saves the new girl from drowning. By the end, the new girl is his new friend and he is loved by all once again.

Everyone loves Lyle, the crocodile; he has amazing manners, awesome tricks, and everyone always wants to play with him. One day, however, he gets a letter from an enemy! This enemy hates Lyle! Lyle doesn't understand and then he finds out his enemy is girl from school that isn't allowed to play with crocodiles. So she is jealous, because everyone always wants to play with him, and she has no one to play with. Until one day, everyone is at the beach, and the little girl begins to drown, once Lyle saves her, her mother allows her to start playing with Lyle and soon things are back to normal.
