Some cheesy insta-love and basically one reviewer nailed it well when they went. "Things just...went too fast forward. Like, Vaughan shows up, says he wants Duke and Duke just follows along. Like he's been in love with Vaughan all along. So there's fucking insta-love. ‘Head over heels’ after a few days and no weirdness over the fact that it is his best friend's son." Which boy, best friend's son romances... um. No. >“I can’t fuckin’ wait,” Duke murmured. “You can and you will,” Vaughan scolded, asserting his dominance, and Duke wanted to moan his submission. The age gap is over ten years and a bit weird, both are legal but the idea of him being Vaughn's best friend's son is still weird and in the back of your head. A lot. Vaughn's best friend is also really weird. He was quick to support his best friend dating and screwing his son and handled the whole relationship way too sanely. Bounty Hunters #1 is more of a total zero when it comes to immersion. No one would handle this level of weirdness and the idea of their best friend going after their son, this whole thing is awkward and... well, more awkward. It's a mess and it's treated as fully normal without any question or conflict. No, just no. Pass. Some cheesy insta-love and basically one reviewer nailed it well when they went. Duke Morgan owns and operates one of the largest bail bond companies in Atlanta. Not only does he bond criminals out of jail, he and his notorious group of bounty hunters will also track them down and ensure they show up for court. Roman 'Quick' Webb is Duke's business partner and best friend. Both men are in their forties and have given up on the happily ever after with the ranch-style home, and white picket fence. They'd both tried it and failed miserably. But they have their friendship and they have the business. When Quick's son, Vaughan Webb returns-after seven years-from studying abroad with his law degree in hand, he's back to claim what he's always wanted...his fathers' best friend . . . Duke Morgan. Vaughan has always claimed to be a classic gentleman with an old soul. He was focused and dedicated to becoming the man worthy of Duke's love. It's a complex and messy situation as Duke and Quick figure out how to still be best friends when one of them is sleeping with his friend's one and only son. But when Duke is hurt on the job, all the unimportant trivialities fall to the wayside and Vaughan and Quick put their heads together to save Duke. Contains mature themes. Also, considering Duke had never even thought of his best friend's son in any intimate fashion, he kinda dove right in without hesitation, without any internal moral wrangling. Yeah... no.
And the whole thing is just too "sweet" with a major side of cheesiness. Even the narration didn't work for me!
Had this not been a freebie from Audible.ca, I would be most upset at having wasted one of my book credits!
But... (there's alway a but isn't there?) I'm intrigued with Quick's & Cayson's upcoming story. AAARGH! Dilemmas! ( )
