I know it seems odd to give a book four stars when it took me 3 1/2 months to read it, but I did really like it. It's just that I liked it best in small-ish doses. Caitlin Moran is a treasure--as hilarious and insightful here as ever--but she covers a LOT of ground in this collection. It was too much for me to take in all at once, but it was worth sticking with it to the end, so I'm glad I did. This book was quite political. I really had no idea what to expect. I liked it. I agreed with quite a bit. I didn't always understand the British slang but I could have googled it if I hadn't been so lazy! Although I liked this book, I really need a break from politics - for now. I do feel bad that I know so little about British politics and Caitlin knows so much about ours. I don't deliberately set out to be ignorant, but British politics seldom come up in my circle so I would have to actively search it out online. The Graham Norton show probably doesn't count. . . keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
This is Caitlin Moran's engaging and amusing rallying call for our times. Combining the best of her recent columns with lots of new writing unique to this book, Caitlin deals with topics as pressing and diverse as 1980s swearing, benefits, boarding schools and why the internet is like a drunken toddler. Short essays on so many things that confuse and puzzle us, always with a wash of Moran wit and her clear and funny take on the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune as a woman these days.
So highly recommended. ( )
