He traveled the world starting out as a doodler drawing made up unique animals and characters. He started out drawing for an advertising agency. But later on writing some classic books and animations. This book outlines his life from birth to his death. Was more than just a writer. ( ) I never knew Dr. Seuss started at a magazine. From there he worked his way into the hearts of everyone, including his lovely wife Helen. He was then an ad mad, drawing advertisements that would catch peoples eyes. Even during the Second World War, he kept drawing, but these drawings poked at Hitler and Japan. Each page is full of many facts about his life, some not known to many people yet. As you read each illustration gives clues as to what will happen next in the story if you pay close attention. Some of the illustrations even include never before seen artwork by the Great Doodler himself. "Dr. Seuss: The Great Doodler" is a brief biography about the beloved children's book author and his zany little characters. It starts with Dr. Seuss getting a call about winning the Pulitzer prize for his books, and then jumps into the family and childhood hobbies that set-up his future career. The book also discusses the many events that affected the themes of his work, from living through both World Wars in America, to the changing environment, to the death of his wife and his remarriage, to his own battle with cancer. The book ends on the legacy Dr. Seuss has left behind. The illustrations are beautifully done and bring life to the author and his memory. Jam-packed with many interesting facts, the reading is clear and to the point. However, I feel like biography should have kept true to Dr. Seuss's own writing style since it was telling the story of his life- this tale, if told by rhyme, would have been even more sublime. This beginning reader book teaches the reader about how Theodor Geisel became the literary icon of Dr. Seuss. It tells his life story from when he doodled as a child, what inspired him to write and illustrate, and the legacy he left after he passed. The book contains painted illustrations on each page as well as some of Dr. Seuss' artwork. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
