The stories were too short for the threat posed to be dealt with realistically and just felt rushed. The stories included a series of unlikely coincidences and weren’t very plausible. The crossover of the Egyptian and Greek mythologies was explained poorly and didn’t make sense. The way Riordan explained how they worked together didn’t seem to have much thought put into it and the whole situation should have been given more importance. It was never even mentioned again afterwards or expanded on. It’s worth reading as a continuation of their stories but they aren’t very good and just raise more questions. I love Rick Riordan's writing style and characterization. I have always enjoyed mythology and he does a great job of bring any and all mytholgy to life in a fresh and new way. I find the characters to be engaging and to feel really real. His characters feel fresh and diverse without feeling like he makes them diverse just to have diversity. He does not belabor the point of their diversity it just is a fact of who they are and yet anyone who reads his books can feel included in representation. I love how he weaves the mythology into modern times so you feel like you are learning something as you are being entertained. This book was seriously awesome. I'd read the Son of Sobek before, but not the Staff of Serapis or the Crown of Ptolemy. These crossover stories have everything that I love about the Kane's and everything I love about Percabeth and was better than Magnus Chase. They even touched upon Percy turning down immortality and chicken avatars. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

This seems to be an attempt to bring together Greek mythology and Egyptian mythology. I wasn't aware of Seraphis prior to this but it does provide a link tying the two together.
This is one of those series that I won't actively seek out, but if one crossed my path, I'd probably read it. ( )
