Jonas needs Tate. He just doesn't know it yet. Or at least, he doesn't want to admit it. Because there is no way Jonas Ashcroft is gay. He's a straight, carefree frat boy player, just like any good son of a conservative state senator. If only his struggle to convince everyone-especially himself-didn't leave him so miserable. No matter how many girls or bottles he drowns himself in, Jonas can neither escape nor accept who he is. Enter Tate. He's smart, confident, and instantly sees right through Jonas's surly exterior. Sure, he's done things in life he's not proud of, but he knows who he is and what he wants. And what he wants is Jonas. As their easy friendship intensifies into something more, Tate introduces Jonas to a life he's never known. One filled with acceptance and sex and a love that terrifies and excites them both. But some inner demons refuse to be shaken off so easily. When Jonas's old life barges in, he faces a shattering choice, one that could destroy everything he and Tate have fought so hard for. Sometimes love just isn't enough-and sometimes it's exactly what you need. Book One of All Saints, the brand-new series from A.M. Arthur.… (mehr)

Is this an entry mistake in Library Thing? - Tyler Stevens, the narrator, not author, is listed first. But wow, Stevens makes this novel into something near perfect. It's like an old-fashioned movie where everything is tied up at the end and we are left emotionally sated that we took this often perilous journey with these folks.

Stevens tone is so simpatico with the two leads, Jonas and Tate, and their story. He sounds their age - can't confirm that as I didn't find more than a mention about him online. I hope we hear him a lot more. At least with this series by AM Arthur, he'll have exposure in Romance.

Tate is 23 when he meets 21-year-old Jonas, a young man who has acted out, getting into trouble and generally stuck in an ugly life, as he chafes against a loveless family and meaningless friends. A lot of hyperbole there, but I can't hold back!

Tate has raised his sisters upon the death of their parents, and has been taken under the wing of a wonderful family, the mother of which happens to be Jonas's aunt Doris. This 'extended' family couldn't be more different from Jonas's, and he experiences love and support for the first time.

Threaded through this is Jonas's ownership of being gay, due to the interest Tate shows in him. Tate is out and proud, and runs a shelter for homeless LGBT kids.

AM Arthur pulls lots of heartstrings, and it worked on me.

It's quite a cinderella/princess and the frog fairytale: Jonas is trapped in the evil family environments of his home and college fraternity. He tries to fit in and please his bigoted father and uncaring mother. Once he experiences good decent people, who love and accept him, he becomes a prince. ( )

This was another just for fun audiobook I listened to. It was fun to listen to. Pretty unrealistic at times and at some parts I felt like I was getting a crash course about sexual health but I got out of this what I wanted which was a fun story that I didn't have to think too much about. ( )

I had a difficult time connecting with these characters and staying focused. Maybe it was just an off time for me because it seems that most people liked it. ( )
