A little bit environmental science, a little bit animal biology, a little bit how you can make a difference, and a little bit finding your place in a new school. And a lot of sea turtle babies. I get questions all the time about environmental activism and service learning and helping kids feel empowered to take action -- there are a lot of good higher level books on the subject, but this is the first excellent picture book I've seen that hits all of those points. And an excellent picture book is exactly what teachers are looking for -- concise, engaging and with a blueprint for success. This picture book follows the story of a young girl named Vivianne. She recounts her story of going to the beach with her grandma and her dog when she learns about nesting season for sea turtles. It turns into the young girl problem solving to help baby sea turtles find the ocean because they were heading towards the city. I like this book because it follows the story of a child taking action to help these animals and rallying a town together to help. This book talks about pollution which can be evaluated in a science classroom. I also liked this book for the beautiful and colorful pictures throughout. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
