Supporting emotional regulation has become a critical priority in effective programming for students with ASD. The Incredible 5-Point Scale was one of the first practical supports to help all partners recognize and teach students to become aware of their state of regulation. The Significantly Improved and Expanded Second Edition of the now classic resource expands on the core idea of the original scale by providing current clinical examples of how to use the scale across different age groups and functioning levels. While this is primarily a guide for older autistic children, it should be fairly simple to modify the techniques to work with children as young as preschool by implementing a Likert scale to their emotions. Not the best for handling the day to day of autism, but if there is a specific activity that needs to be eliminated or controlled in a child, this book can hlep with the tools to do that. (
