Mary Balogh and Grace Burrowes team up to create a pair of Regency novellas each set at a summer house party. In Another Dream, by Mary Balogh, Miss Eleanor Thompson has found satisfaction as the director of a respected school for girls. The life of a dedicated educator offers many rewards and much meaning--but also more loneliness than Eleanor anticipated. She accepts an invitation from her sister, Christine, Duchess of Bewcastle, to attend a Bedwyn houseparty, never dreaming the summer curriculum might include stolen kisses and true love. In The Duke of My Dreams, by Grace Burrowes, banker's daughter Anne Faraday is cast into the company of Elias, Duke of Sedgemere, at house party in the Lakes. Anne warms to the lonely man and conscientious father behind the title, and Elias becomes enthralled with the brilliant, burdened woman beneath Anne's genteel facade. Liking turns to love under the Cumbrian summer moon, but family obligations, secrets, and a prodigal duck conspire to thwart the course of true love.… (mehr)

Two great authors take the idea of finding love at a Summer House Party and create wonderfully, delightful stories. Both authors create a delightful space for non-standard heroines to find love.
Mary' Balogh's Eleanor is stranded at a roadside inn by a heavy thunderstorm. While there she meets the daughter of the Earl of Stauhton. She is attracted to him and his children. When they both show up at the same house party (hosted by her sister) how could they do anything but fall in love. This most exciting part of this story is the fact that both Eleanor and Michael are older (40), He is a widower who had been looking around during the season for a young bride but finds love with a mature woman.
Grace Burrowes heroine Anne is the daughter of a banker. Not titled, she is all but shunned by the women of the ton and chased after by grasping men of the ton who are looking for a rich wife. She meets the Duke of Sedgemere in Hyde Park one day and there is an attraction. They meet again at a roadside inn where she is having trouble getting horses for her carriage. After sharing lunch with the Duke and his friend the Duke of Hardcastle they share a kiss and separate - only to find themselves both guests at the same house party. Anne meets the Duke's 3 sons and there is an immediate connection. Their time together only deepens the love between the 2 adults and Anne and the children.
Two stories, two house parties, two fathers with children, 2 indepedent women - two distinctly different stories that complement each other beautifully. ( )

Two of my favorite Regency Romance authors together!
Another Dream by Mary Balogh is a Bedwyn story and most of my favorites appear. Eleanor, Christine's sister, has been running the girl's school in Bath that she took over. On the way home during summer break, she is trapped at an inn by a summer storm where she encounters an intriguing man and his two children. An 'accidental' kiss and a summer house party lead to romance.
In The Duke of My Dreams by Grace Burrowes the Duke of Sedgemere is a widower with three little boys. He is interested in spinster Anne Faraday who is buried by the extreme wealth of her bank father. When they meet again at a summer house party, sparks fly.
Great stories that I really enjoyed. ( )
