This is probably one of the first books that the hero really wasn't likeable in any way whatsoever. You truly wanted him to die, you wanted the heroine to get away and never come back.

I haven't read any of Addison Cain's books before and only read this series because of Nora Ash's Alpha and Feral series which were my introduction to Omegaverse. I am not sure if I would have read this if I knew what I was getting into. I read it, and got sucked into the plot. The sex was secondary and even got in the way of the story sometimes.

I won't go into the details of the plot here because others have done it just fine.

I finished this in one sitting and it grabbed me from the first so that was helpful since I was in a major book slump. Don't read this unless you have the other two in the series because it is a single arc. Just be prepared that it isn't a "nice" book. ( )

Lately I have been doing a poor job at choosing books lolz!

So, I was actually on audible looking for Penelope Douglas 'Until You' when I was checking a review On another of her books 'Credence' which mentioned this book Born to be Bound, with an 'Alpha' male abuse theme... So I wasn't expecting a romance story in the slightest.

I want to begin by saying this was already a 'iffy' choice for me as I generally don't enjoy reading....ahem.... well to put it bluntly.... Beastiality style theme, and I'm really not into the 'Omegaverse' as a reader.

So on Claire's first encounter with the Alpha's it really made me cringe... A bunch of guys growling like dogs... then Shepard 'purring' and growling... it's all just a nope for me, I do like alpha male stereotype... but not portrayed in such animal like ways... like yes he can be abusive as fuck and dominant, and totally psychotic... but using 'pawing at her,' 'growling aggressively at his touch' and 'sniffing his skin' as description for me was just....no... like... I just ain't into that and the whole idea of humans being like animals (specifically wolf) is just...No.

That said, aside from the personal preference I think anyone into this kind of erotica would probably enjoy it.

I didnt like the Shepard x Claire thing going on, I found it a bit boring, and making it worse was her being in the same room with literally nothing else... its a weak way to avoid writing setting and plot... and the odd couple of chapters that are written out of the box room weren't overly gripping for me. Though I did find myself wishing that the Beta guy (already forgot his name) would have been more of a 'mate' rival and win/ steal her over or challenge Shepard at some point during the book... but this isn't the case... and after reading a chunk of reviews to the other two books (to decide if they were worth reading if only for plot development, since this ends on a cliffhanger.) most people don't even mention him, so I will assume his role doesn't take that much of a turn later, and the fact she ends up back in the room (apparently) just settled it for me.

I wont be getting the next one, as from reviews apparently the author has the habit of leaving readers on cliffhangers, and the final book apparently has no closure??? ( )

The writing in this book is great, the authors use of language, description, showing, etc all great. The story flowed nicely, and was at a great pace. So for that I am giving it 4 stars.

If you are someone that rape/abuse makes you upset (honestly I don't know how to phrase that), don't read this book. It is very graphic, and what the main character goes through isn't for the faint of heart. If this book was written in our universe I guess you could say? people would be rioting in the street about rape culture.

That being said over all it was an interesting premise, and well write. ( )

This one is not for the faint of heart but if you like your sci fi romance gritty, if say you enjoyed [b:The Last Hour of Gann|18589656|The Last Hour of Gann|R. Lee Smith|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1380286253s/18589656.jpg|26331984], you would probably like this one. The hero is not a nice guy and he treats the heroine poorly. She is not a doormat or a pushover however. I'm not going to kid you. Bad things happen. But if you don't need your sci fi romance to be all sunshine and roses this is great stuff.


This is the first of a trilogy and you really need to read all three of them. I'd really consider it one long book. So the world building is excellent. There is no info dump. Just the farther you get into the story the more things become clear. The writing is in 3rd person mostly from the POV of the heroine. There is however quite a bit from the hero and some from various other characters. There is a lot more to this story than just the relationship between the hero (anti hero?) and the heroine. The writing style is immediate and you are drawn into the story quickly and deeply. The author does a great job of making you, throughout the 3 books really believe in the love of the two leads even after the way things start out between them but it does take all three books before the hero becomes someone you can like but he never becomes a "good guy". ( )
