Piacevole, anche se del tutto irreale.
Per poter curare il padre Rose si piega al ricatto di sedurre Van uno degli uomini più in vista degli Stati Uniti, ma quando lo avvicina ne resta ammaliata totalmente tanto da non riuscire a rinunciare ad una notte di passione con lui.
Il giorno dopo se ne va senza lasciare tracce, ma il destino ha pensato in ben altro modo.
Una lettura abbastanza piacevole e veloce, di solo relax.

Rose O'Malley's father is very sick, he needs an expensive heart surgery and Rose doesn't have that kind of money. She works as a maid for her wealthy employer, Mrs. Lyndon-Holt. Mrs. Lyndon-Holt tries to force Rose into seducing her grandson (hero-Zac Valenti) so he will produce an heir. (Zac is estranged from his grandmother and wants nothing to do with her.) She tells Rose she will pay for her father's life-saving surgery and he will go to a clinic and get the best medical care possible if Rose does this. Since Rose's mother died her father is all she has left and she doesn't want to lose him. Rose very reluctantly agrees to Mrs. Lyndon-Holt's plan.

She meets Zac in an exclusive Manhattan hotel ballroom party. Zac is intrigued by Rose from the moment he sees her---before they even meet or speak. He is a hotelier and a nightclub owner and one of Manhattan's most eligible bachelors. He speaks to her at the party and invites her to one of his clubs, which they go to, and then they eventually end up at his apartment.

When Zac receives a phone call and asks Rose to wait she disappears---she just can't go through with this and play with someone else's (Zac's) life.

A week later Rose is working at a health food store (she left a note and quit her job as maid). Mrs. Lyndon-Holt tracks her down reminding Rose that she signed a legal document and she could be sued for breach of contract. She gives Rose a note with an address on it (where Zac will be) and instructions on what to wear. So Rose meets Zac again, at a Manhattan buffet luncheon in which she's serving the food...

Rose discovers that Zac has been looking for her all week. The attraction between them is still very strong. He tells her she's coming with him, he doesn't want her out of his sight again. They go for a walk in Central Park, talk, and eventually go back to his place and become lovers.

Rose leaves again. Zac looks for her. Months later a work assistant of Zac's finds Rose on the headlining page of the newspaper, supposedly pregnant with Zac's (the Lyndon-Holt) heir. Feeling betrayed and angry he looks for Rose, they need to talk...

Zac has distanced himself away from his family. His grandmother is obsessed with carrying on the Lyndon-Holt name and legacy, and she wants an heir. Zac could care less. But now, to his dismay, it seems Rose was in on it all along.

I liked Rose. She really didn't want to trap Zac, she just went along with Mrs. Lyndon-Holt because she loved her father. She even broke away a few times. She really was sweet and caring.

Zac was also likable, and handsome, and sexy. His grandmother, Mrs. Lyndon-Holt, was horrible! (She and her husband were responsible for ruining Zac's parents' lives.)

Zac and Rose made a nice couple and they had great chemistry. This was a romantic and enjoyable read with lovely settings, Manhattan, and later Tuscany. ( )
