This is a book about a sweet old lady named Miz Mozetta. She gets a wild hair one day when she wakes up to go out dancing. When Miz Mozetta tries to get her friends to go dancing with her they all complain that they're too old or have aches and pains. Miz Mozetta then tries to dance with the young children across the street, but they turn her down as well on account of her age. Disheartened she returns to her room where she's later surprised by some friends and they dance the night away and even invite the young ones, who denied her earlier, to dance along with them. This book won the Coretta Scott King award for its bold and corner to corner pictures. ( )

Miz mozetta was looking to have a good time when she heard the music from across the street. After no one wanted to dance with her she decided she wanted to go back home. When she turned on the radio it brought her back to the good old days where she dances and they had fun. I found that the content in this book wasn’t as strong as others. It didn’t really leave me wanting to know more about this story. ( )

Mia Mozzetta is ready to get out and dance with her red dress. She then realizes her friends have too many pains to go dance. She asks the kids in the area but they think she is too old. It all comes together when her friends come by and the kids from the area and they all learn a thing or two from the different age groups being combined. I like how Frank Morrison drew the characters. They do not look like ordinary people. They are rather tall and lanky. Although, the strange features the we can see the long limbs moving and growing. The photos are alive. I almost feel as if I can jump into the photo and start dancing too. This story reminded me a lot of my hometown, New Orleans, it was full of jazz and dancing in the streets in the middle of the night. ( )

Jazzy Miz Mozetta is about an elderly lady who just wants to dance and have fun. It begins with showing how excited she is to begin her night, and although she had some ups and downs, she ended up having the time of her life. I think this story represents a sense of being kind towards one another, and how everyone can learn from each other and have a good time. It is a good book for students to read because it not only teaches a lesson about including everyone but the illustrations and diction is captivating to the reader. The illustrations are done very nicely; using loud colors and interesting lines to draw the characters. It was an enjoyable book to read with a lot to offer. ( )

Elder folks are positively portrayed with pluck and vigor. The flinging of arms and legs lend themselves to the movement of the story. There's also something very real about the Miz Mozetta's sagging breasts and wide hips!
