A funny book. A "Bad kitty" that she used to be brave, then daring, and then very active. Until one day ( I guess Halloween day) she saw going through the door all kind of "horrible creatures" then she became "scaredy cat" until she saw the candies. She decided not to be scaredy anymore. ( )

My young kids have always liked the Bad Kitty character. This would be a fun book to share in the pre-K and Kinder classroom around Halloween. The kids would enjoy the ABC letter recognition as well as the funny storyline.

This book first goes through 26 words in alphabetical order describing how the cat used to be. It then describes 26 different costumes that come to the house, one for every letter of the alphabet. It also describes 26 candies it eat and 26 bad things it does to people. Through the book the story is describing how the cat become a bad cat.

Bad kitty goes from happy, to scared, to naughty through the night of halloween

Although hitherto fairly brave, Bad Kitty discovers that she is a bit of a scaredy-cat when a series of monsters knock on her door on Halloween night. After encountering an A-Z catalogue of spooky creatures, our feline heroine is dismayed. Then she notices an A-Z range of treats and finds her courage again, attacking those frightening intruders with an A-Z range of moves...

The third Bad Kitty picture-book I have read, following upon Bad Kitty and Poor Puppy and Bad Kitty, this Halloween story, much like its predecessors, combines humorous tale with alphabet book. As someone who has known and loved many a feline friend, I continue to be amused by the premise of the Bad Kitty series, even though the artwork is not really to my taste. That said, I feel that Bruel is really covering the same ground in Bad Kitty Scaredy Cat that he covered in the previous two books, and I wasn't that impressed. My three stars are primarily for the creative combination of concept and story, and for the enjoyment I have seen these books bring younger children. ( )
