This story is about Rosie going on a walk and she is learning about the chicken Rosie and her baby chick. Rosie could not find her baby chick, and she had to look everywhere. While this book uses words that could give Rosie human like qualities, she is actually just looking around for her chick. She is looking in the basket, in the wheelbarrow, she can not find her baby chick.

Story about Rosie who loses her chick (who is half-hatched). Rosie runs about searching all over the place, but cannot seem to find her. Her chick is close by and being followed by fiendish predators! It is an adorable tale of a mother's desperation, love, and anxiety after having misplaced her chick for a moment.

Rosie the hen, whose happily oblivious escape from a pursuing fox is chronicled in British children's author Pat Hutchins' first book, the 1968 Rosie's Walk, returns after many decades in this sequel. Much like its predecessor, the text in Where, Oh Where, Is Rosie's Chick? is quite simple, with the humor being provided by the contrast between words and pictures. The reader is ever aware of the location of Rosie's chick, even if the frantic mother-fowl is not, making this an entertaining little book. I don't know if it is quite as successful as the first, in terms of the humor, but the artwork is just as appealing, and the premise as engaging. Recommended to anyone who enjoyed Rosie's Walk, or who is looking for humorous stories aimed at younger children. ( )
