( ) This novel - apparently the final part of the series - continues the story of the Lauritzen family to the 1950s through the eyes of Eric, a grandson of Oskar. Towards the end, there are certainly things that overlap with Ondskan but on the whole, it's sports, mates, girlfriends, changing circumstances of living following events in the family, starting to understand his background but remaining mostly in the dark of what the older generations went through and why the wider family is growing apart over the years. Not my favourite in the series but very readable nonetheless. A disappointing book. Nearly 180 degrees the other way from the path the other books in this series take. I loved the combination of history and the Lauritzen family, with another family member in the spotlight every new book. In this case that's what's happening as welk, only the person in the center is very young. He tells the story from the pount of view of an 11-15 year old boy. And that's the readon I miss so much information that makes the whole family movements more understandable. I usually dislike 1st person stories, and in this case it's even worse: that 1st person intervenes with the story and keeps monologues to the real writer. At least, that's what I've made of it. Keeping the book in order to have/get the series complete, but if it weren't a series, the book would've gone travelling!

Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
