First, the illustration for this book was breathtaking. Each illustration was a photograph of the site/part of Maryland that was being described. Each picture takes half or more than half of each page, leaving room fora about 4-5 sentences of text that aren't too small to read. It's evident that the book wants the readers to look at the beautiful pictures first, then read the history/information regarding each specific picture. The book is organized in a way that gives every page it's own picture and detailed description of that picture. For example, on one page there is a picture depicting Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland. The information for this picture talks about what activities people can do at the lake, when the damn for the lake was created, and the wildlife that lives in the area. I love how the book gives the reader just the right amount of information about the specific site in Maryland without overloading the reader with too much unneeded detail. Another interesting page is one that talks about the inner harbor of Baltimore. It lets the readers know how Baltimore was founded in 1729 and has more than 40 million tons of cargo that pass through each year. These are the type of little facts that are cool to know and give readers something to think about. While reading the book, all I kept thinking was how the book felt a lot like a brochure. The book wasn't intently encouraging you to visit these places in Maryland, but rather have you want to visit Maryland because of the sure beauty of the photos and brief information regarding them. Overall, I loved the simplicity of the book and the brief history lesson is gives readers. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
