Got this one in a book box years ago and pulled it off my shelf today because the cover is an amazing pink and it cheered me up on a day when I was laying in bed sick with a head cold. Story is YA teens at ComicCon working their way through some relationship drama over a weekend together. For the right audience this is probably a good representation of LGBTQ people, people with autism, people who don’t have perfect bodies, and people with mental health struggles like social anxiety and panic attacks. For me, as an old person, it all seemed like it was explaining the obvious, but to a teen this is probably good exposure to lots of stuff. So I think the book may be better than I rated it but for me it was just OK but kind of perfect for a day when my brain was only half functioning. This was a really fun book, what made it especially good is that it follows two characters throughout the two stories couldn't be about more dissimilar characters. One is a up and coming actress and the other a socially awkward nerd who happens to be her best friend and the adventures that get up to at comic con. ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD*** I have a difficult time coming up with a rating for this book. On the one hand I adored it. And I read a interview with the author (at the ending?) saying she wrote something she wished was available when she was younger. I totally get that sentiment. If I read it when I was a teenager it would be one of my favorites. I don't know if it's because I read fangirl not that long ago, or because I'm not a comic-con goer. I think my country just had its first one a year ago... but fangirl resonated more with me. Even though I loved the characters more in this story. It's just... a LOT happens in this book. And although we only get two POV I kinda missed the one from the third friend... But then it would be more stuff happening... I don't know. I liked it but it didn't grab my attention fully. And it feels weird to give stars based on merit instead of my reading enjoyment. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
